We have been hard at work tasting teas and we now have several new teas are available on our website: (https://teaswelike.com/)

Year 2019 was dry and the yield was low, leading to concentrated teas. We offer an exceptional Yiwu gushu blend designed for aging (BYH Lishan Gongcha), as well as more affordable cakes from Yiwu and Mansong that are ready to drink now, but still have the strength to be aged (no oolong-pu here). Given the popularity of the Love Forever Paper Tong cake, we are also excited to make available a new Bulang cake (2005 Double Lion) that has similar characteristics but is significantly more potent. In addition, many of our other popular offerings are available on the site, including the 2001 Huangyin (yellow mark), the 2001 “Naked Yiwu” cake, and the 2001 Menghai tea factory 7432 – an uncommon example of Hong Kong stored sheng with almost no geosmin flavor. We hope you enjoy the teas!

Just an update about inventory:

We've finally been able to restock the 2003 Hong Kong Henry Serious Formula/Conscientious Prescription:

https://teaswelike.com/product/2003-hon ... nry-7542/

This has gotten a bit harder to find in the last year with good storage and in good condition. Enjoy!

We're happy to announce a new tea which has been in the works for quite some time. Thanks to Pedro and Toby for helping us with this tea and arranging the first tasting rounds for this tea. This is the 2004 Nanqiao Wang Bulang, one of the earliest cakes from Nanqiao. Taiwan dry storage. We should be able to maintain our price for this for at least a couple of months.

We also are relieved to be able to restock the 2001 Menghai Tea Factory 7432 with HK Traditional storage without a price increase. We continue to think this is a great opportunity at 18 years, and one which definitely won't last.

Enjoy!

Question. If you order 7 cakes I assume it will come with the original tong packaging?

It depends which tea - some we have in tongs and others not. We still have the nanqiao wang in tongs, similarly for the XG love forever, the huangyin, the conscientious prescription and the Dayi 801-8582 as well as the BYH teas, but the 2001 MTF 7432, naked yiwu, double lion bulang, are not in tongs.

With the new year now in full swing, the TWL crew is very excited to put a few new (old) teas up on our website in the next couple of days. Over the past few months, we found a couple of teas which are really strong examples within their category, and are still relatively affordable.

1. We have struggled to find a shou that we feel strongly enough about to carry on our site: we finally found one, a 1990s light fermentation shou made by the Hongtaichang company and stored in Malaysia. A shou that even sheng purists can enjoy.

2. An incredibly concentrated, robust, chewy, old-school 2006 Malaysian stored Zhongcha at a great price. This one is very tasty, not subtle, and we will be storing this for the long haul.

3. A few cakes of a very well stored 2003 Chenyuan Hao Manzhuan Gushu, one of the earliest productions by CYH. This is dry stored by a collector in Taiwan with consistently excellent storage.

4. Last but not least: two examples of old-fashioned styles of Liubao, both "sheng" in the sense that they are not wet piled, and with traditional storage and processing. The first (shown in the photo) is a large leaf Liubao commissioned by a friend in Malaysia and naturally stored there... it's from material which is more than 20 years old - the betel nut profile is unmistakeable. The second is a Guangxi-stored Liubao with probably the best material we've ever seen in Liubao. It's from the 80s and has a ginseng style profile. We wanted to showcase two good examples of traditional Liubao with different storage styles.

We hope you enjoy what we have come up with to start off 2020... Thanks to all our curators and supporters on TeaForum, we hope to discover even better teas together in the coming year!

The 2003 CYH Manzhuan Gushu and the 2001 Zhongcha Huangyin are back in stock!

We have also updated shipping costs to make it more affordable to send smaller packages. Since April 2020 our approach is to use four shipping categories which approximate Taiwan Post's shipping charges for our typical customer base. Note that we must also factor in the weight of the packaging material, which is usually 9% of the tea weight + 100g. The four categories are:

1.Small box ( < 825g tea): $12.50
2. Medium box (<1250g tea): $18.50
3. Large box (<1700g tea): $23
4. Flat rate above 1700g: $28
