Returned from Thailand w/ latest season's Organic Red Jin Xuan. This dark oolong is well oxidized as before. As before it is easy to drink a lot of this, it is smooth & somehow comforting. It makes some people think of the free tea of Chinese restaurants in America, though it is better than service tea. This year it is simpler & more durable, providing at least 4 infusions.

New list of teas in next post. Cheers

Teas available for purchase from me now are listed in the post before this one. Here are comments:

GAOSHAN (lightly oxidized oolong):

1. Newbies: I suggest Perfect which gives the flavors & quality that is sought from high mountain green oolong. If Perfect satisfies you, perhaps you should not try better gaoshan (since the price for better gaoshan is greater than the difference in quality). Perfect is part of the world of premium gaoshan & lightly oxidized tea, better than so much tea that is offered at higher prices by many vendors.

2. Moving up in quality: One might do it by prices or descriptions of teas. My comments are sparse, but I am open to discussion via PM, my email, or even phone. (Just let me know you want my # or give yours.) Also members here have written about these teas more eloquently than I do.

ROASTED TEAS:

The medium-roasted High Mountain Organic offers a wonderful array of flavors & allows drinkers to choose how they want to enjoy a tea session by varying parameters. The pleasure provided by these top-quality leaves that were perfectly processed & roasted, is about as great as tea gets. This is very SPECIAL.

I believe the range is from high quality to some of the very best tea in the world. Descriptions are not so long. I feel like saying delicious & refreshing & other vague, simple words of appreciation because overall I believe it best to take approach wonderful things openly. Cheers.

Hello members. I am back in Boston in time to catch its only significant snowfall of the season!

List of teas for sale is at post of March 8, 2023 below on page 7.

We did some cheap, rough traveling in Thailand & Laos which exhausted me as it would not have done 5 or so years ago.) I tasted many teas while I was moving around & still the only tea I value from in person sampling in those 2 countries which has some excellent food is the red dark oolong I have been drinking & selling (from Thailand).

I look forward to enjoying teaforum. Cheers

LIST OF TEAS FOR SALE followed by short comments about the tea & instructions for ordering:

All teas were grown at high-altitude & vacuum-packed in thick foil for me by my sources. I use about 1 gram of leaves per 40 - 50ml of water. Unless otherwise noted, the teas are very easy to prepare.

From TAIWAN:

SPRING 2023:

Green tea:

1. LISHAN GREEN: An excellent, fragrant, high-quality tea which was grown at very high altitude. Price is < what such flavorful, aromatic tea of this quality commands. 50 grams for only $30 ($.60 per gram).

Lightly oxidized oolong (also known as gaoshan or green oolong):

2. DAYULING: Delicious, by far this is the best gaoshan of this Spring season that I tasted & tested. Features an array of tasty, fragrant, & interesting flavors along w/ some minerals. Long steeping time results in bitterness replacing the very pleasant minerals. 50 grams for only $45 ($.90 per gram).

3. LONGFENGXIA: I haven't bought LFX for about 3 seasons. This Spring this LFX is a higher quality gaoshan again & cheaper than other top-quality oolongs. 50 grams for only $32 ($.64 per gram).

4. PERFECT: Very close to the quality of better gaoshan (so close that I suggest newbies start w/ this & if happy, then never try expensive gaoshan). No tea is better value for $ than this. 50 grams for only $20 ($.40 per gram)!

Traditionally medium-roasted, organic oolong:

5. CHAMPIONSHIP HMO (High Mountain Organic): Top quality leaves that were carefully roasted in bamboo baskets rotated above hot charcoal for 2 days to provide delicious, interesting, & unique pleasure... It is so tasty, dynamic, & well balanced as it features many flavors along w/ the taste of the roast. I suggest swishing the brew around one's mouth to feel & taste the wonders of this tea's wide range of flavors. This is not an aged tea yet matches the quality & character of great, aged, roasted oolong while costing much less.... Leaves are good for several infusions. Now 75 grams for only $63 ($.84 per gram).

SUMMER 2022:

Black tea (a.k.a. Red tea, Hong Cha, Lishan Black), oxidized 90 - 100%:

6. LISHAN BLACK: This pesticide-free tea continues to be the most dynamic black tea year after year. Leaves provide a few infusions for traiditional preparation & many more infusions for gongfu style. LB has enough of the character of excellent Oriental Beauty, that one doesn't need to use OB to satisfy a craving for it. I have served this to guests for years; & all of them have liked it. LB is one of the best teas, though not priced so. 75 grams for $57 ($.76 per gram).

ALL TEAS PROVIDE DYNAMIC, DELICIOUS FLAVOR & FRAGRANT AROMA W/O BITTERNESS; & FEEL SMOOTH & PLEASANT IN THE MOUTH FOR REFRESHING, RELAXING, & MOST ENJOYABLE TEA-DRINKING.

I have spent a good amount of time w/ my sources. They know I am only interested in superior tea. I purchase teas for their quality & value that I enjoy drinking myself often. I rely on my sources & my own sampling & testing.

Postage charges: Flat rates: USA $8; Canada $16; Australia $32. I may send tea to other places. To order or ask questions, PM me here, post in this thread, or email merrill23k@yahoo.com. We can talk by phone but not text. I can be paid via Paypal or by check.

Current price list of teas available above:

Some comments on teas of Spring 2023:

LISHAN GREEN TEA:
This comes from the same farmer/producer who provided last winter's Dong Pian. The leaves are from the same very high-altitude plot of land. Again the leaves provide a tasty, aromatic, complex cup but this Spring green tea is not & light & subtle. The flavorsassert themselves. I feel that I am definitely drinking something substantial. For those that believe that green tea may enhance health, I would guess this gives you what you looking for. (I am not in that club. I think the only healthful benefit tea is that any harmless hobby we enjoy is good for us.)

Lightly oxidized high mountain oolong (a.k.a gaoshan, green oolong):
LONGFENGXIA:
Great to have this return this Spring to the cupboard as very-high quality as a > reasonable price. Slightly different than the Dayuling. I like having both available to me.
DAYULING:
The best gaoshan of this Spring: a bit better than the LFX & at a higher price (though not so expensive for the best). I treasure it for all that gaoshan can give plus the floral qualities.
PERFRECT:
Remains a very enjoyable gaoshan that is best value for $.
