We have just restocked a limited number of jihong porcelain teacups from our studio in Jingdezhen. The teacups are Jihong (red) glazed porcelain with Qinghua (blue) painted scenes, handmade in Jingdezhen.

The difficulty in providing the optimal firing environment for this glaze means a high failure-rate in the kiln. As a result, the studio stopped producing these over a year ago and has only now agreed to fire a limited number for the fall. To read more about the history of this coper-oxide red glaze, its use in the Ming Dynasty, and why it is difficult to produce, check out our blog post here:

Mingqian Longjing from Mei Jia Wu West Lake is now available for Pre-order on our website. Orders will ship at the end of the month.
https://mudandleaves.com/collections/gr ... mium-grade
This is TeJi / Premium Grade LongJing (特级龙井) and the first harvest of LongJing for 2023. It is harvested before Qing Ming Festival (Mingqian) from Mei Jia Wu 梅家坞. Mei Jia Wu, like Shi Feng, is one of only a handful of officially-recognized Longjing tea gardens next to the West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China.
The #43 cultivar of Longjing buds earlier than other varieties, making it the earliest harvest of Longjing in the West Lake gardens. #43 Longjing grown in Mei Jia Wu is prized for its mouthfeel, subtly layered flavours and rich aroma. These are the first buds, and are more tender and delicate than later harvests.
