Hello,

My name is David Campbell; I run Tillerman Tea (and I am a Cat Stevens fan.)

Since 2002 I have been travelling to Taiwan several times per year. Tillerman Tea, which specializes in premium single-source Taiwan oolong teas, was founded in 2007.

Buying tea in Taiwan is easy - buying great tea is very difficult and requires years of building relationships with farmers and tea makers. The growers and producers with whom I do business all are committed to the highest standards of sustainability and quality. Our offering is not extensive (I deliberately limit it to about a dozen teas) but I believe it includes some of the best oolong teas that Taiwan has to offer.

Our philosophy is one of complete transparency; every offering names the grower or producer, the cultivar, the garden elevation and the harvest season.

Yes, that is from the "old days" when I operated a physical shop. I retired from that but then got bored in retirement so opened the online version of TT. You are located in Taiwan, correct? Where? Perhaps we could meet on one of my trips.

We both like the same teas (mostly) and songs from Cat Stevens. However, I would not call myself a fan of anyone (singer or farmer). Each harvest & song is judged anew regardless what I liked before from...........

Nice looking website. Love to talk with you sometime.

I missed this before. Glad I read this article and recommend it.

Responding to a comment from Tillerman about aged oolong needing to be roasted: I had a couple from Hou de Asian Art that were not roasted originally but after about 10 years. I had another aged oolong that was never roasted (perhaps from Red Blossoms tea). Both were very pleasant but not powerfully flavored.

It seems a difficult task for a tea to show its original unroasted flavors, the flavor of the roasting, and the influence of aging beyond a mellowing effect. It's what I hope for (probably foolishly hope for).

Cheers

Getting ready to order your super fresh, and buttery sweet 2018 Winter LiShan. I am also very interested in your special TIAN CHI HIGH MOUNTAIN OOLONG; is there a noticeable difference between Spring and Winter versions?

A new shipment of Chen Laoshi's Dong Ding is on the way and should be here by week's end. I also will be receiving some of his Alishan; it's a superb tea at a reasonable price.
