I have just been enjoying one of them more unusual teas that I got from Morning Crane in 2021, a Ddeokcha that is something I had never even heard of until I saw it as part of their offer and that has been quite interesting to drink. Without going into great detail about the tea now (because I am not currently at home able to sip some of it or read the information provided at the time of ordering), it has been a great reminder of what a privilege participating in these tea buys has been.

I have not ordered any for several years because I still have quite a bit of some that I ordered a lot of... and fortunately they are, as predicted, good keepers!

The email I got saying teas were packed and ready to ship was in November. Got another one shortly after telling me to ignore the last--since my order was sent too late, in September... except that's not true. It was my request for a status update that was sent in September. My order was from May and got acknowledged by him personally. I let Arthur know but got no reply. Asked for another status update in December--no reply. Sometimes stuff happens and you cannot reply to mails, but I wonder what could have happened that prevented him from at least sending a mass email to everyone who ordered. I'm thinking of cancelling the order.

Edit: I canceled. Gave them 7 days before I initiate the PayPal refund from my side, will post how it went. Their website is also down: https://morningcranetea.org/

I hope Morning Crane hasn't gone out of business. I imagine it was a nightmare trying to import tea into the U.S., though that doesn't explain why they're not communicating with customers. I still have some of the tea I bought from them a while ago and hope it does indeed keep well.

I over bought in the past because I was always afraid that I would not have many more opportunities to buy from them. But I've not been disappointed when I opened the pouches and packages after long delays. Even the green teas I have bought from them have kept remarkably well.

I first discovered Arthur's offerings when the shop where I first bought a Korean tea closed. It was not that long after I arrived in Los Angeles that I investigated and found a tea shop in Koreatown but sadly their menu was all about the takeout Boba and there was only a single offering of balhyocha in canisters that seemed placed more for decoration than for actual sale. They did have a few different hot tea on the menu, but not nearly as many as the Bobas.

I was disappointed with the shop because there were not many varieties of my kind of tea available, but they were reliable sources for the balhyocha until they closed.

I ordered from their online store a few times, but again the selection was very limited and the tea I wanted not always in stock. So I looked around for online stores with websites in English where I could order such tea. The sites that offered anything usually had it as a one off and not a feature.

Morning Crane has been quite a remarkable venture, and the Teas they shared have provided such joy. i've been really hoping someone would come along and take up the challenge of continuing this remarkable thing when Arthur could not manage it anymore.
