Hi everyone. Wow, it has been a while since I was on here! Hope everyone is doing their bit to stay safe and healthy.

New teas are on the site. Thanks to the disruption from the pandemic, sourcing proved quite tough. I am lining up some more teas to bring soon, but I'm very excited about these 5 teas!

Rohini Estate Darjeeling First Flush - most of the season's production was lost due to the lockdown in India. Late Feb and early March yielded a few invoices from which we selected this tea. Floral, but with good body and a hint of astringency to balance the cup

Havukal Estate Nilgiri and Kodanad Estate Nilgiri are two high quality Nilgiri Winter Flush teas. Smooth, creamy and with notes of stone fruit, both are flavorful teas that have enough body/kick to drink in the morning, yet are mild enough to be sipped through the day. I hadn't tried Havukal's tea before and was very pleased with the outcome. They're also very good about participating in the community

Tara Chiyabari in Nepal can hardly be called an estate. Tea production is fairly new but has grown rapidly. This semi oxidized black tea has a peppery, vegetal, smokiness to it, which is very different from the mostly floral First Flush productions I have tasted over the years. A very unique taste profile!

And finally, an Autumn Flush Darjeeling Oolong from Rohini Estate. Not gonna lie, this tea had me stumped. Subtle is a word that perhaps best describes this tea. A very mellow tea, I found that a hybrid brewing technique worked best. A higher leaf to water ratio, lower temperature, and shorter steep time yielded a lovely liquor, floral to the nose, with a sweet honey finish to taste.

I've also put together a Sampler of these 5 teas, plus the muscatel sweet Temi Estate Sikkim 2nd Flush.
