Many thanks for letting me know that you are enjoying this Chawan...

It is glazed with my White Shino over Alberta Slip. Alberta Slip is formulated to look and act like the no longer available Albany slip which was a naturally occurring clay from Albany, NY. Both of these slips when used by themselves fire to a nice rich Tenmoku. Your Chawan was fired in my "Tin Can" kiln to 2345F. (∆10) in a reduction atmosphere at 8,000ft up in the San Juan mountains of Southwest Colorado. The brownish spots are large mesh iron in the clay body that burns through the shino.

Wow, looks like some gorgeous new works.

I have a number of Shyrabbit cups of various sizes, and some tea bowls, and some pieces have passed through my hands to other tea lovers at work (I like to provide a nice cup along with the tea to fill it on my rounds up and down the hall). This lovely cup is now Malcolm's



This pretty cup left the office with someone who moved away



This little cup will never go anywhere



And here's a lovely chawan getting used for matcha



but it's such a sturdy and handy sized bowl that it gracefully accepts many other tasks, beautifying many different meals, as well as being used for matcha, sparkling sencha, grandpa brewing of oolongs, and more.

Agape Yunomi glazed with White Shino, Copper, Cobalt, Rutile and Ponderosa Pine Ash...Some kind of organic inclusion in the clay burned out in the firing and created the small Yunomi mouth...Etsy coming.

Here's another not-new piece of work from Shyrabbit, from which I'm enjoying some Lao Ban Zhang prepared in my unglazed 'bizen-style' teapot by Petr Novak. The play of the light in this cup and the feel of it in the hand make me even more eager to see the new firing's results.



I love the tea mouth on the Yunomi above--it adds such personality to the cup. Happy accident wabi-sabi!
