FS: Handmade hardwood tea trays
Three hardwood tea trays for sale! The first two are cherry, the third is amaranth / purpleheart. Details of individual trays below. They are not stained ; these colors are entirely natural. Each tray has been treated with a natural hardwax oil finish, which is both food safe and water resistant. Designs inspired from some traditional chinese trays.
I have now been a professional woodworker, here in Montreal, for about a year. So it was only a matter of time before my new trade would meet my pu and teaware addiction! I made a few series of trays for myself and some local tea friends, and I thought I would offer these three for sale to the online community. I am also looking for feedback, before, maybe, producing some new designs. Critics are welcome
1. North-American Cherry A - 115$
Dimensions : 10 1/4" x 8" x 1 1/8" / 26 x 20 x 2,8cm. 100ml pot and cup for scale. Last picture from underneath the tray.
Beautiful wood with complex grain patterns. Darkens over time, evolving into a deeper orange with red undertones.
2. North-American Cherry B - 115$
Dimensions : 10 1/4" x 8" x 1 1/8" / 26 x 20 x 2,8cm.
3. South-American Amaranth / Purpleheart - 130$
Dimensions : 10 1/2" x 8" x 1 1/8" / 26,7 x 20 x 2,8cm.
Really dense and hard exotic wood. Will darken over time, becoming a darker purple and finally a rich brown with a purple hue. `
Shipping cost to be added depending on where you live and preferred mode of expedition. Shipping with Canada Post.
Finally, a quick note about the finish. As I said, it is water RESISTANT, not water PROOF. In my experience, it resists spills and regular teaware use without any problem, but it would be better to not submerge it completely in boiling water. Sadly, a waterproof, heat resistant AND food safe finishing product would be something like the holy grail of wood finishing ; it's kind of impossible to find. There are some products that would be more resistant than this one, but I did not feel comfortable using them since they are not food safe. The product I used is Osmo polyx hardwax oil, feel free to look it up!
hi friso,
super nice stuff...
super nice stuff...
OK Admin, I think we can archive this!
I'm open to custom orders though, should anybody be interested in wooden teaware. Future pieces will be posted on Etsy, probably.
Thanks for the kind comments!

Before archiving -@friso thinking you sold these trays? Really nice pieces.
No, they're still available! I just haven't received a lot of interest. I could lower prices a little, but at some point it wouldn't be worth it for me anymore.
@friso it is not uncommon for pieces to take a while to sell. I see you just posted these a few days ago. I’ll archive, but I’d recommend keeping the post active.
Ok, thanks for the advice. Let's keep it active then!
And, *new prices* :
