FS: Vintage Taiwanese teapot stand

Well, actually these are not tea pot stands.

They used to be filled with water, put under the legs of the table to prevent ants and other crawlies from reaching the food on it.

But they are ideal to use as tea boats. Practical and for those who like to keep it simple on the tea table. Not to speak of the nice wabi sabi look they have.

These are getting harder to find these days, but I just found two of them at a flea market in pretty good condition. The white stains are from the water.

Price for one:
2250TWD (about 80$) including EMS shipping.

Good question, let me measure and update!

Usually I tend to empty them in a waste water bowl during extended sessions from time to time.

200ml filled to a level where it is still possible to comfortably empty it without spilling.

That’s one from my private collection and how I use it.

And a snap of a few more at a friends place, obviously not in use yet...

I'm not in the market for a tea boat, but appreciate the history trivia about how these things were originally used :)

Thanks! It’s an interesting story indeed. I am constantly on the lookout for old things that can be incorporated into the tea brewing. Also find it nice to use something already made and it give it a new purpose instead of buying new, resource wasting things.

Update: Stand B is gone.
Stand A still available.

Shipping from Taiwan abroad has increased, but price stays the same for the above...
