FS: Qing/ROC Julunzhu 100ml
Got another ever popular Julunzhu on offer, without calligraphy, which do prefer actually in its simplicity...
The teapot on offer is in Duanni clay. Old duanni clay is often darker, muddier looking than contemporary one. 100ml volume, yet I would suggest a lower working volume, as JLZ is better not filled up to the brim, due to the lid construction. I have another in similar which I do like a lot for Gaoshan, it gives it a nice body, not dissimilar to Kobiwako actually... In Taiwan I heard some people like it for Puerh, but I have not tried that.
As usual for teapots of this period, the lid is not a perfect fit, which does not impede the performance of it. Old Julunzhu in particular do never have well fitting lids, it seems to me that this shape was not easy to do more precisely. The lid of this one has quite a bit of wiggle-space, depending how the lid is rotated.
Tear and wear as appropriate for an antique. Inside has some tool marks, in particular a larger firing defect near the spout hole, see images. Thoroughly cleaned and reset. No visible cracks (be careful when first using, old teapots need to slowly be woken up! Always warm from the outside first, preferably the bottom of the pot).
This teapot is to the best of knowledge from the late Qing/early ROC period. In addition, I have cross-checked this item with the sources at my disposal. If you consider purchasing, I suppose that have done the same and know what you are doing. Do not buy what you don't understand
See images for further details, or request more if you need to see a particular part of it!
