I finally got myself a pure silver Xi Shi teapot. Its weight is only 221g. Can't wait to try this one... They are pretty rare in this size in my country. Hopefully, it does not drip much.
Manufacturer: 慶美銀樓
(I am not completely sure about the teapot's authenticity but it came with a certificate and the seller told me that a local silversmith confirmed it.)
That's the link to the certificate: http://www.ngstc.cn/MC/?M=C&SN=S1803116459&QO=5260
1. Do you have any advice regarding silver teapots? I've already read that it highly depends on the tea's quality.
2. Do you know how to wrap the handle like this? https://yunnansourcing.com/collections/ ... apot-195ml
All about silver
The teapot has arrived a couple of minutes ago and I already cleaned and polished it. I cleaned it with mild dish soap. A vendor said in his blog that you should not do this, but I do not think that this could harm the teapot. Better to be sure that there are no oils, etc. left on the teapot from production.
It's really shiny now, I like it.
And I removed the string. I'll make one myself in another color. Blue could fit nicely...

Any thoughts on the performance of the pot? Which teas have you tried and which one came out top? I have had a weak moment a few days back and ordered one from Yunnansourcing. But it hasn‘t arrived yet and wont probably for a few weeks. Shipping takes usually about 3-4 weeks.
I ordered this one btw:

Sorry for the late reply. I am not a big fan of using clay teaware for green tea, so I used to use a porcelain teapot for green tea. But now, I use the silver teapot for it. The silver teapot makes the tea taste different... I'd say it tastes fresher/sweeter. I really like it. Would be interesting to hear your thoughts when you've tried it.teabug wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 5:03 pmAny thoughts on the performance of the pot? My pot has finally arrived and I have had some young Sheng in it a couple of times. So far, at least with that particular Sheng (spring 2020 Jingmai from farmer leave.com), I prefer a Zhuni clay pot. I will give it a try with a jade oolong and perhaps some green tea in the next couple of weeks.
