My friend has a cup that is a duanni clay exterior/glazed interior. Pic below:

It’s also nice and wide, but a little shorter than what I’d prefer. I think it’s good for drinking sheng, but I’d prefer a small bowl shape but not of thin porcelain. Do you know of any cups like this?

So I'm reading you want some weight to the cup, and like duanni clay exterior/glazed interior? What ml capacity are you shooting for?
My favorite cup to handle at the moment is
Taisuke Shiraiwa's light as a feather undulating cup that also has a wonderful subtle texture.

Maybe 250 or 300 ml capacity, but I would only have 120-150ml liquid inside the cup at a time.

...you want some weight to the cup? and want duanni unglazed clay exterior/glazed interior? or are other clays and glazes are an option?

A heavier cup would be good but I don't need it to have a duanni exterior. I think a glazed interior would be nice

Your search for the perfect cup, or a new one, is a great way to start a tea bowl collection. What you are searching for is sort of broad, so many tea bowls could be a match, with so many variations. They don’t take up much space, and really add to the experience aesthetically and functionally. I started a collection after I broke my favorite 19thC porcelain one, that I found in a vintage shop. I now have cups for every occasion. Local antique and vintage stores, Ebay searches ‘tea bowl’ ‘Asian Antiques/tea bowl’ , local potters,
Artistic Nippon,
Buyjp4u.com, Asako Isobe (tokonameyaki.isobe,
http://isobe.shop-pro.jp/?mode=srh&cid=&keyword=)
My favorite artists at the moment are;
Akira Satake he is now also making some guinomi slightly larger for us tea drinker. I love my 150ml yunomi from him.
Taisuke Shiraiwa my bowl of his is functionally 100ml

I like that chawans Satake is selling, but I think I like this shape a little more:

These pieces cost a lot, I'll have to read up and take my time

Ohhh, that is a beauty. His pieces are real works of art, powerful in the hand. The proportions are perfect. Cost of a good dinner in the city

This type of cup size seems good, though I'd want it to be a little larger so the liquid wouldn't be so close to the top from a steep in a normal 110ml gaiwan.

Victoria kindly found this and sent it to me, and I thought I should add it to this thread.
It's pretty close to what I am looking for, though I am not a fan of the brown color and also wish the cup were a bit wider.
