(Quote from yesterday's Focus Taipei)Taipei, Oct. 30 (CNA) The number of people who have one of the most common last names in Taiwan now make up 52.79 percent, or 12.33 million, of the total population, with Chen (陳) being the largest surname group, according to statistics released Monday by the Ministry of the Interior (MOI).
The 10 most populous surnames in Taiwan, compiled as of June 30, were Chen, Lin (林), Huang (黃), Chang (張), Lee (李), Wang (王), Wu (吳), Liu (劉), Tsai (蔡) and Yang (楊), the MOI said.
