Please share your experiences with what effect your tetsubin has had on your water/tea. I've been debating getting a tetsubin for a long while, and am wondering how much a difference it makes in water/tea. The aesthetic/artistic/atmospheric addition to the tea ceremony is nice but I'm really interested if it will enhance my tea. Also, please share any thoughts/history/knowledge you have on the tetsubin. I'm interested in how long they've been used in tea making, what was there original purpose (just heating water? For cooking perhaps?), how long have they been used in general, etc.

In Japan, they are literally used for everything where boiling water is required, tea, food even coffee. Had the most amazing coffee from a shop which prides itself only using Tetsubin boiled water. The coffee tastes stronger, yet without increased bitterness or roughness.

Also recently had someone demonstrate how previously of electricity smelling water from a kettle, turned into odourless water after being boiled with a Tetsubin.

Yet, not all Tetsubin seem to be created equal, so things are getting complicated and expensive again...
