FYI, Fellow does sell refurbs - $132 for the Corvo (for tea) or the Stagg for pourover. https://fellowproducts.com/collections/refurbished-gear

FWIW, I've had my Stagg EKG from the KickStarter for six years now - still going strong except for the temperature controlling circuitry needing a reboot a couple times a year.
Reboot? Do you (or anyone else, if original poster is not currently checking the forum) know what that means?

I did find instructions on resetting the kettle: hold down both buttons 10 seconds, and 'factory reset' appears in the window. tap the power on button to confirm. The screen changes to give you an option to 'cancel', I guess while it is resetting. Then it is supposed to restart in a few seconds, but mine just sits there with the 'cancel' screen indefinitely....as in, 10 minutes or more.

Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry you’re having these issues. I’ve had a Stagg EKG for several years now with no issues so far. Are you buying your kettle directly from Fellow or? Since the kettle has a one year warranty I’d just replace it. I also use Bonavita variable temp kettle, not as attractive as Stagg, but a faster pour. I have found the Bonavita base needed replacing after some years out of warranty so have bought a replacement base on eBay.

One of my Staggs is still going strong, I think now about 4 years out. The others both developed this same fault early, within the first year, and it is getting worse. I've just done what I hope is a proper reboot/reset, and I'm running it through it's paces now to see if this has fixed the issue.

I also had one Bonavita that kept going and going and finally was replaced only for preference for different size/spout. Finally decided the goosenecks are just too slow when I need to pour fast and get out the door with the thermoses. I might still have that base to pull out and see if it fits the Stagg kettle [I successfully mixed and matched a Gourmia and one other brand in the past because the base connections were the same.

that's a shame. mine's still working fine. i have never tried the factory reset. i wonder what it's even for, lol. did wherever you found that procedure give any more info?

the reason i ask is, afaik, it loses all state afaik when it fully loses power (unplug from outlet). i'm not aware of any nonvolatile user settings. i assume that's what the other user meant by reboot, but who knows.

the only thing i can imagine resetting with some special procedure is something related to calibration?

The reset definitely made a difference, because since then, it's working much better. I'm not sure it's 100% perfect (I don't always take notes or log every time it happens) but I don't need to replace it yet.

This was the key I needed:

It's so helpful and I don't understand why it was so hard to find on their web site. Maybe they assume everyone uses their app and has another way to do the same thing?

Anyway, THANK YOU very much!
