Nice pieces.
Reading this topic reminds me of a recent picture of a part of our Hagi-family I took when cleaning the shelf.

Oh a multitude of Hagi, they are gorgeous. A local artist?

The two in the front (on the right) are « rocks » by Shibuya Eiichi, the other ones by Kaneta Masanao. Kind of Japanese-local

Beautiful set, especially the kurinuki by Kaneta. A small treasure and fortune in your closet:)

That's a very beautiful collection Elise. Kaneta Masanao is my favorite Hagi artist.

I think Kaneta Masanao is one of the most interesting Hagi artisans nowadays. His work ranges from simple cups to chawans to sculptural ceramics. I find his work more delicate and nuanced than most, his shapes make ceramics feel like a folding garment, much like some sculptors who have achieved that effect with marble. And from time to time the underlying dark clay peeks through the white glaze almost as if it emerged from fog, giving a sense of depth.

I have only one of his pieces, I attach some pictures to try to give the idea, but it's quite difficult to show in pictures.

Beautiful TeaWares. Chip and I drink from our Hagi almost daily. Hopefully soon he will share some pictures.
(My photography skills are lacking at best and would not do justice to our beautiful cups.)

Yes. The chawans are spectacular. Too bad they cost several thousands usd...

Time to join in! I'm very lucky to own 2 pieces by Masanao Kaneta (one is a larger piece). The items already shown are gorgeous and i would love to get more but i'm already blessed with 2 items.

This is the vase - the top and front reminds me Mt. Fuji but i'm not sure if that was intentional or not

I keep admiring his pieces when posted on TeaChat, and now here, and on Artistic Nippon....but have been able to resist their pull due to price, and lack of the size/shape that I use most....wider than a typical yunomi, larger than a usual guinomi.....but one of these days, I might get lucky....

I thought it would be fitting to start with a piece that was commissioned thanks to Chip's work in coordination with Magokorodo: Eiichi Shibuya's rock #1, from the Hagi SSO (super special offer) #16. I inherited this piece from Adam Yusko, so I think it is fitting to give this topic a fresh start with a thought to two people who contributed a lot to this community.

Wow, I wish I could have one too!
It has a roughness to it that would make me want to drink a lot!

This is also very beautiful, but I am sure that I would stab myself a lot with it!
