Any idea if it's worth keeping or no? I'm doing some cleaning and wanting to give away/ toss some items I don't use. These cast iron it's not enameled and it was bought used. I do remember one writing means "today". The other I have no idea what that means. Thx

Thank you! Yes it works well and it does mellow the taste. I find myself lazy most of the time to stay on top of the stove top hehe. I prefer the kettle next to my desk. I feel bad giving it away so wanted an excuse to keep it.

It’s winter now so I’ll use my infrared portable stove more often for both tetsubin and ceramic kettles, but like you I’ve neglected heating those since I’ve been away over a year. Ebbs and flows, I keep most of my teaware, eventually going into rotation. Taking the long view

The stamp is seems like its not a japanese letter or writting as my japanese friend could not read it. But a portable infrared seems like a great idea. That would be perfect for my studio. Thx

The rising sun mark on the underside of your lid I believe is the Nippon Tokusei mark - meaning made in Nippon that I think was used mainly starting or around 1950s and 60s. I've only ever seen it on porcelain previously and assumed it was more just a porcelain factory marking, but I guess it must have been used to mark all kinds of local products.

Interesting. Thank you for the information. I tried to find more info on cast iron with that stamp but could not see anything new other than porcelain.
