I just got the most amazing glass kyusu. Went to post pictures and realized I needed to create a new subsection! Share your Japanese glassware here.

It is made of borosilicate glass made by Ryuta Mizukami. Volume is around 200ml (max 240 but that’s to the rim). Pour time 14 seconds. It has one of those metal spring things to filter out the leaves.

I tried really hard to capture the colors accurately but failed. Pictures don’t do it justice it practically glows. It is goldish but in the right light it will get a whitish translucent effect that shifts to blue.

Artistic Nippon has an art glass section, but I've never seen a kyusu there.

Nice one! Is it from that one brand that posts a lot on Instagram? I was tempted by the looks of them, but do not really have good use for a glass teapot.

@debunix and @Bok, I got it on buyjp4u. They occasionally have glass pots there by this artist, but this is the first time I've seen a side handle kyusu there. They have another one with the same color/design but back handle, I think it's still available (in case TAD has been activated in anyone ).

Bok, can you link the one that posts on Instagram? Be interested to ogle more pots.

btw, that appears to be silver fumed glass. it's a vapor deposition process yielding a thin-film interference effect.
if you let tea residue build up on the surface, the color will pop more. try viewing it against a dark background for a simulation of how it may change in appearance.

Do it! And yeah, the colors come out more when I hold it up against a dark background. Also it feels so light in my hand like it weights almost nothing. It feels so delicate.

can you please share a pic of a tea session with it sometime? i'm curious to see it in use.

also, how's the pour? does it resist dribbling along the outside of the spout?

I'll post pics and video when I get home. Pour is good, I didn't really pay attention to dribbling, I'll update later.

Okay, here’s the promised video, and also a better pic that captures the way it shifts to blue in the right light. I’ll post another pic of leaves floating in it when my session is done.

It does dribble, but no more than a drop.

It is lovely empty AND full. I bet it is mesmerizing to watch the leaves in the slow internal currents after filling with water from the kettle.

Yeah. That’s one of the reasons I bought it. I have been wanting a nicer neutral teapot for a while but I just loved the idea of being able to see the leaves float around. Lol I actually watched for like two weeks before I finally cracked and bought it.

I love to watch a rolled oolong open up and move around gently in my glass pots
