Thanks again...I had no idea that there was another forum...and was sad to see so little activity on TC, I really appreciate the invite, especially now that I am able to drink tea again. I still have so much to learn and try...so this forum is a treasure :)

The old forum is still good to search in the archives (although some old threads seem to have been deleted). Just do not expect much reaction on new topics

How long have you been drinking tea?
Chinese Gong-fu style, about a year and a half now. Teabags like everyone else in the western world before, but never again. :D

What kind of tea do you drink?
Mostly Pu erhs, but I also love Dan Congs and Hongcha.

How do you prepare your tea?
Gaiwan or Yixing pot. Looking to get a Chao Zhou pot soon...

What tea knowledge are you interested in exploring right now?
I want to taste Pu erh from all the famous mountains and maybe someday be able to tell which mountain a tea is from just from blind tasting it.

What factors lead you to delve into the world of tea, and what is keeping you there?
I was initially drawn in by the idea of being able to get drunk off teas, and then I tasted my first Dan Cong and that blew my mind, I never knew tea could taste so good. And then I had my first Pu Erh which was a young sheng. Initially just thought it was very different to anything I've ever tasted, but really didn't excite that much. And then I started craving it 3 days later, and now I'm a Pu erh addict.
I also treat it like a meditation as it makes me slow down and come to my senses in order to enjoy it.

What is your location?
London, United Kingdom

Hi everyone! I'm new here! :) So nice to find a gathering of tea fanatics! So where to start...

How long have you been drinking tea?
Around 8 years. Before I discovered loose leaf, I didn't really like tea. A friend gave me some of her tea from teavana, and everything went from there. Originally I was into all those blends, but my amount of those has drastically lessened as I got interested in unflavored/unscented teas.

What kind of tea do you drink?
I drink everything except lapsang souchong shou pu erh. But my favorites are pretty much anything from Taiwan, especially high mountain oolong and black tea. I also enjoy sheng pu erh, and chinese black tea, especially from Yunnan. I have some white tea but not a lot, I enjoy green tea infrequently.

How do you prepare your tea?
Gongfu style at home with a teapot (sometimes gaiwan but rarely), and western style at work.

What tea knowledge are you interested in exploring right now?
Everything? I enjoy learning anything tea related

What is your location?
Washington state, USA

Hi everyone! Thanks for having a cool place to talk about great tea!

How long have you been drinking tea?
It's been on and off for the past 10 years and has evolved from Teavanna to mail order to direct buying from suppliers and farmers when I'm lucky. This last obsession with tea has been the most intense over the past year or so. I'm a full fledged gong fu addict with more teaware than I know what to do with.

What kind of tea do you drink?
It's all good, but my favorites are Taiwanese gaoshan, shou and sheng puerh. Gyokuro is fun in the spring, too!

How do you prepare your tea?
Gong fu ... lots of leaves usually about 1g/10ml ... sounds a lot, but I love it.

What tea knowledge are you interested in exploring right now?
I've been trying to get into the world of teapots, but it's rather intimidating. It's hard to know what is worth our hard earned money.
I'd also love to find some other people to share the passion with. It's hard being in the US. I have not met a single person that drinks tea like we do.

What factors lead you to delve into the world of tea, and what is keeping you there?
I had a of disposable income lying around and thought that it would be fun to drink it ... just kidding, I'm a poor grad student. I wasn't poor before I started drinking tea, but now I am. I'm digging the tea hobby. It's been fun to see it develop from a curiosity to learning how to taste and appreciate these peculiar leaves. I also love how tea connects people. There is something beautiful and organic about the whole process of these naturally growing trees being cultivated over the millenia, grown by farmers in the east in some of the most beautiful environments and then enjoyed by others all over the world.

My girlfriend is Taiwanese and her friends father helped me get a few jin from Nantou last summer. I've never met the man, but every time I drink this tea, I think about him and his family. I feel his spirit in the tea. I think that's pretty cool.

What is your location?
I'm on the east coast of the United States. In the suburbs of Baltimore, Maryland.

That’s so cool you have a connection to the tea world like that, that you know who made your tea and so on. :)

Hi Tea Friends,

My name is Tim and I'm a low key tea fanatic. After spending time traveling Asia and Central America I got hooked on tea. After coming back to the United States I started a small tea sales business. Mostly online nothing crazy. Recently, I've been experimenting using tea as an ingredient in cocktails that I make at home. ;)

Great to find this community!

Hi everyone!

My name's Jesse. Here are some answers to the intro questions :)

How long have you been drinking tea?
A few years now, but especially during the last year or so this has taken over as a big part of my life!

What kind of tea do you drink?
Mostly pu'er (sheng and shou), oolongs and Liu Bao. Although I also enjoy aged whites and green teas (both Chinese and Japanese).

How do you prepare your tea?
Gongfu brewing, although also developing an interest in bowl tea.

What tea knowledge are you interested in exploring right now?
Aged sheng pu is a relatively new thing to me and I love what I've had a chance to try so far. Aged teas in general.
Also getting to know more tea friends :)

What factors lead you to delve into the world of tea, and what is keeping you there?
Originally it was my brother who introduced me to Gongfu brewing. What keeps me there is a big question... but I think it speaks for itself that for many this is a life-long journey!

What is your location?
I'm based in Finland, both Turku and Helsinki at the moment.

How long have you been drinking tea?
10 years very casually drinking primarily Western flavored tea, but more recently took the dive into gongfu brewing at the start of 2018. Never looking back
What kind of tea do you drink?
White (fresh and aged) Taiwanese oolongs, dancong, younger sheng, shou, sencha.
What tea knowledge are you interested in exploring right now?
Nothing in particular and also everything at once lol. Doing a lot of blog reading.
What factors lead you to delve into the world of tea, and what is keeping you there?
A need for a meditative space outside of my head. Gongfu brewing gives me a reason to take a step back, pay attention to my senses, and body effect: has done wonders for my mental health in that regard.

Hi!

How long have you been drinking tea?
Since I've been a child, although if we're only counting loose leaf then around 6 years.

What kind of tea do you drink?
Every kind, but I'd say that white tea seems least interesting to me.

How do you prepare your tea?
That depends on the circumstances. At work I'll typically brew tea grandpa or western style, when I'm home I typically resort to brewing with higher tea/water ratio in gaiwan or a teapot, sometimes I'll do lower ratio or grandpa. I don't think I've ever brewed tea in a bowl, so I've got that to check off the list :)

What tea knowledge are you interested in exploring right now?
I feel like I'm past the initial stage of learning about this crazy world of tea, but I'd love to consolidate what I know and learn more bit by bit. TC proved invaluable in the past, so what better place to learn from like minded people than here? :D

What factors lead you to delve into the world of tea, and what is keeping you there?
It all started with one hour-long lecture about tea. What keeps me here? The sheer amount of possibility that hides in a humble cup of tea. You can get the same tea, brew it in a different way (be it by changing the temperature, time, ratio, vessel) and get a completely different result! Then there's also different harvests, types of tea, don't even get me started on puer on yixing...it really feels like something that you can never master, but it will enrich your life in many ways you might not expect.

What is your location?
Poland.
