I see! That's because they did not have the original seals at hand, and they thought that a sufficient number of people would not notice the difference. Terminology can be a bit subjective, I'd call this an intentional replica, it's trying to be passed for an F1 pot, but it's made of actual Yixing clay. It should make good tea.
Yes, that's clarifying! I find that grey area of what's meant to deceive and what's meant to emulate a little confusing sometimes. This one certainly wasn't priced as a early 80s Factory 1, no claims were made, and I thought the clay looked decent. Thanks!

I haven't seen that form of the zhong, 中, character on the stamp before. Is that a something that Factory 1 used?
no. It's one of the signs that it's a replica
There are a number of pots on Dr. Lu's FB page that have similar Zhong characters that he has confirmed as being green label F1. I think they're 6/4 stamps though.

Similar is not the same :) the problem is not the two bars at the stem of the Zhong character ;)

I can't be certain the proportions are exactly the same on ones I've seen listed but the shape has been same. The other version has a straight corner box on top rather than rounded like this one. Both of these styles were on pots listed as being authentic.

BTW Im not questioning your opinion of this pot being fake. You clearly know a lot more than I do. I'm just curious what it is about zhong character that's wrong?

In my view, the square of the Zhong character is too tall.
