DailyTX Green label?

I am not sure lol. My guess is pre 1977 if it’s what appears to be or a replica. This pot is close to 60 ml instead of 40 ml. Good lid fit and beautiful pour. I have 80s hongni pot and the clay texture seems different. The chop on the bottom was used between late 60s to mid 70s.

Hello, I’m so new to yixing but not to tea. A friend gifted me these two teapots. She told me one is more expensive but she could not tell me which one. Now the mystery: which one is the good one? Are they ok to use?

Ah thank you!! Yes that looks the same. Good to know. What does it mean when it says not the best clay was used? I’ve always heard yixing if not authentic can be dangerous.

The more expensive is not necessarily the better one. None of them will kill you, they might kill your tea, but that’s another matter… bad clay can mean many things: not from Yixing, with additives, fired at not optimal temperatures and so fourth.

Just try and see how you like it, preferably compare with a more neutral material like a porcelain gaiwan.

That is how I’ve always drank my teas, with my old friend gaiwan but now I opened up a whole new world. From what I tested last night, one of them has a high pitch when I move the lid around. The other not even a pitch.

Likely it is a genuine yixing clay, but may contain some additives, such as iron oxide to enhance the red color. Likely fine to use, I wouldn't worry about it too much. That clay quality assessment is most likely either based on a) visual and esthetic examination of the texture of the clay in comparison to other hongni pots, or on b) the effect on tea. It could also refer to c) the composition of the clay, such as iron content etc., but that demands a spectroscopic analysis so it is rarely done.

I have one of this F2-F5 teapot, I bought it from chawang shop a few years ago. It appears zisha art gallery has one to sell too.

It is quite a large pot, it looks quite goofy, clay looks quite different than other yixing teapots, but pour is fast and ball filter very useful.

It makes good tea, perform like a gaiwan, very neutral and close to no mutting at all, and I enjoy green oolong and even green teas with it.
In fact it is the only clay teapot I had success with brewing chinese green tea. I would cover the bottom with leaves and put around 60-70-80ml for intense shot of green tea
Also being quite large it will allows balled shape taiwanese oolong to expand nice.

Might be that the teapot need more seasoning, you should keep using it from time to time it won't disapoint

I just got this ROC pot which came as a set. Elegant lines and beautiful clay. It looks to be around 70ml so probably ideal for higher end yancha.

That looks as good as a modern pot. Very nice find. Maybe one of the best ROC SPs, I've seen shared around here.
