If it's better that way, then you can think that after green label they started adding stuff to the clay.
That's definitely better for me, as some of my pots are from the green label period (and probably early 80s, not late 70s) :D

But yeah, the answer then is probably that "it depends" (but is very likely post 1980, this also seems to be the takeaway from Dr. Lu's post about barium carbonate in the "Early tea pots II" FB group) and the only way to really be sure is to conduct a test.

Thanks btw.

Wow I found something I want from aliexpress, shocker!! I've spend decades watching Chinese wuxia tv and other tv shows.
I saw a 'yixing' teapet of guan yu, a beloved general from the three kingdoms lore. I don't even care if it isn't yixing. I wants my precious!!
Lool, the workmanship could be a lot better. I may have to pass on my precious.

@pantry I've never had one but if I ever owned one I'd like it to either represent my character or be unique.

You could listen to the 3K podcast on the way to work or back. The presentation is quite fun and engaging.

Thanks for introducing this podcast! Will check it out, though likely not having to commute to work for several more months
Also for writing the blog posts. Very informative :)

My friend and I would play the hack-and-slash video game based on 3 Kingdoms for hours and hours.

Funny I remember the phrase but, "Among horses, red hare.. Among men, Lu Bu". He had the best of horses and was among the best of men. :D

Hello all! I wonder if I might be able to pick your brains before making a first Yixing purchase. I've been reading a lot of the earlier posts on the forum, and saw that @Bok recommended Hongni as a fairly flexible clay unlikely to disappoint a first-timer. It seems as though Zisha Art Gallery is generally a well-regarded vendor, if sometimes a bit expensive (as a browse through their collection quickly confirms).

Nonetheless, I found this reasonably priced Hongni Shuiping http://zishaartgallery.com/product/%e7% ... 5%a3%b6-8/- I think it's likely around 80-90ml judging by the dimensions given for other pots on the site, but I've submitted a request for more info on the site in any case - but wasn't sure why this particular pot seems to be less than half of the price of, say, this pot: http://zishaartgallery.com/product/6%e6 ... b6-za0103/. Presumably the gulf between the 70's and the 80's is just that huge.

In any case, could someone confirm that this is a reasonable price for the pot and that it would likely be suitable for either Sheng Pu'er or Gaoshan? Would this much cheaper pot, albeit neither F1 nor Hongni, work better?: https://essenceoftea.com/collections/yi ... gxi-teapot Thanks!
