I don’t often get out the Zisha cups from my Square Bamboo set, but today I used one with some 2018 v93.

I found it made for a cleaner, more open flavor while accentuating the texture and hui-gan.

Flavor seemed to get more muted the longer it sat in the cup. Probably will stick with porcelain cups for more nuanced teas, but this was enjoyable.

This is a side handle design Shi Qiu (roughly translates to Lion Ball) pot. The lion seems a bit beaten up or very dusty.

Fairly sloppy workmanship on this one, but I'm used to it on vintage pots. It adds to the charm I think... No idea what the origin story for this one is! I've only seen side handled pots of the era from F1 stuff.

500-600 ml?

How do people here use these huge pots? Chuck 30g of leaf in it for a whole dinner party to enjoy, or a low leaf to water ratio Western style brew?

I do use mine occasionally when I want a lot of tea, because I’m thirsty, and I usually use a lower lift to water ratio and longer infusion time for semi gong fu brewing.

Vintage Duanni sidehandle pot with Houhin-style spout.

Fast pour, high-fired and thin walls. It is indeed good for green teas.

I find I l’m drawn to boxy Yixing pots. They show off their construction from slabs of clay, with shapes that couldn’t be wheel-thrown.

Here's an interesting one... no character seal on the bottom, only an oval '720' stamp (720ml?) Seems to have been well used in its past life. The clay looks to be of nice-looking thick QSN.

Very nice I have one of those, same shape and bottom seal, different lid seal. Unfortunately it is in a bad shape. I'm guessing 720 might be the volume? There are at least 3 sizes, smaller somewhere around 500ml, middle one around 700ml and a big one over 1l.

Curious if you are using your purple clay flower pot with any tea in particular? I’ve started using mine with Hojicha which uses off boiling water so the thick walls work well with this tea late at night, even though it’s big around 500ml I think. The ball filter on mine is red clay.

Mine has a 19 holes flat filter and a square ZGYX seal on the bottom. I really like the big flat knob on the lid. My idea has been to try using it to boil water chaozhou style, but right now I don't have a small stove to use it with, so I use it mainly to brew sheng puerh, like in all of my big pots. Hojicha sounds like a nice choice. Another type of teas I like to brew in bigger pots, and even keep warm on a stove for a deeper extraction, are aged whites.

Yes, likewise the flat knob on lid is very useful especially when resting the lid. Ergonomics of my 500ml flower pot are so perfect, even though it is relatively heavy. Also, the smooth clay is sweet to touch. I think it is one of my favorite Chinese pots to use, although it took me years to finally pair it with Hojicha. Kyarazen posted a catalogue on TC that included this teapot;

Interesting stamp on the bottom. Anyone know if this may be similar to the private order pots like the H441786 stamp?
