Pictures don’t tell much in my opinion. If you have a pot that can be seasoned in 2 sessions, it’s a concern. I think most people would think how, and boiling is one method
I boiled the pot for an hour and used it twice after.

What’s wrong with boiling the pot to season it? Thought that was fairly standard procedure.
Nothing wrong, except:
1- It's completely unnecessary.
2- There is a good risk of cracking or chipping the pot when it rattles in the boiling water.
The pot can get seasoned simply by steeping tea. Even if one is cleaning the pot, it is safer just to submerge into hot water and let soak rather then to boil.
But it sounds your pot is doing fine. :)

Here is a video about carving on zisha
Thanks! Wow, the kid broke a pot so casually just like that
I gotta say I like my hex pot but got a little disappointed by the handwriting (carving). I suppose you can't expect all potters to also excel at calligraphy :😂:

By the way, just notice you're based in N. Cal (always assumed Texas because of your username). How are you coping with the shelter in place? I've been drinking tea non-stop
It’s good time to organize tea collections, work on plants, and revisit teapots I haven’t had time to build a relationship with. I am also in the Bay Area ;)

Do you enjoy using it? Does it pour well? Enough room for tea to expand, etc.? The user will always be the best judge, no?
Hmm. Should I think it odd nobody wants to offer an opinion?

Yes, I am the user—but I trust others are much more experienced.
Lots of people have already commented on the quality of this potter/studio.

Search for “chanting pines” to get multiple long threads about CJF yixing. These are considered good quality pots but many people also believe an asking price of $500-800 is a bit much.

Also most of the people on TF that collect yixing focus on vintage/antique pots.

Close-ups! It’s been seasoned and used twice. Observations?
Clay looks very shiny for a new pot, but I am told newer Yixing is more shiny? Clay colour and grain looks very similar to what I am used to see in low-fired Zini from antiques, but I guess that can't be a low fired pot?

Not sure about the firing temperature.

I did season/boil it, so maybe it is a bit shinier for that reason?

Shouldn't be that fast... do you remember it being that shiny before?

Not sure to be honest. Also, could be the light. I’m holding it right by the window in these photos.

I thought tea was supposed to make you feel focused, yet calm, rather than excited, which seems appropriate in these trying times. :)

Thinking about it, I think drinking lots of tea should be a recommendation to the public right now. It kind of sums up nicely how we should collectively behave : stay at home, be calm yet alert.

That cup looks cool! Can you post some photos of that cup in the porcelain thread when you have a chance? I have a pair of fish cups that I wasn’t sure about the age, look very similar to yours.
