Saw these in the thrift store. What do you think of them? Color is a bit off, actual color is a bit warmer.

The underside of the cups look interesting, I only ever saw this kind of bubble-firing defects on older clays...

Thanks for the insights. The only other thing I can add is that these were quite thin. They appeared older, but that's a guess. I looked around for a matching teapot, but didn't find anything. I passed on these. This store has yielded surprising Chinese teaware finds in the past so I check every once in a while.

So someone else must have picked these cups up and is selling them on ebay. I just came across this listing and the seller is in my area. Too funny! They might be easier to identify with these additional pictures.

Glaze seems rather thick compared to most of the other ROC cup/plates I’ve seen. Total bummer If I’m wrong though cuz a mint ROC set like that would be worth a pretty penny for sure. I’ve seen single cup set go for $80-200 depending on condition.

The cups and plates were noticeably thin overall, but I don't have the experience to compare the glaze. It looks like the listing was ended before being sold for some reason.

I happen to stumble across this modern pot with those same weird bumps. I wonder if this is intentional flaw to look antique or just a unintentional firing/clay mishap.

@Chadrinkincatthat is very interesting! So that does exist in more recent times as well. I only ever saw it on old Zhuni before. But yours is clearly modern so that proves the opposite. Thanks!

Don’t think it was intentional though. Not a feature that collectors normally cherish, so it would lower the value.

Any thoughts on the cause of it on old zhuni pots? The few modern pots I’ve seen it on were very cheap n’ plastic looking thin pots.

Black Bone Syndrome; Why inside clay dark and outside exposed clay red?... Interesting. Must have to do with type of clay used. Or is it coated ?
