I wouldn't expect much difference between these and more modern cups of similar volume, shape, thickness and glaze. However, esthetically I enjoy the combination of imperfection and refinement i find in older cups.

really nice modern porcelain imo, and patrick's a nice guy
my everyday gaiwan is from him (the 80mL version), and i use his cups all the time too.

the gaiwan i got has a flat interior. stylish:

I like these cups for their delicate nature, and that I have matching plates and bowls. I tend to not use gilded older cups on a regular basis though.

I prefer to use plain white porcelain teacups forbtasting purposes. On other times, I will opt for vintage cups depending on the tea I am brewing at that moment.
