When starting, never buy pots on Ebay. Once you have some experience...youll know not to buy pots off Ebay!

I saw more of the so-called F1s on OldZisha this week and they aren’t correct at all: wrong clays for specific mold runs, wrong eras & seals for specific mold, poor workmanship. Of course these don’t come with their “certificate of authenticity”.

Only a rube would be fooled.

I'm 98% sure this is just 5000Friend under a new name. So if you have a good eye for picking out teapots (i.e. not for beginners), some of his stuff is ok. But always ignore the claims of age.

I never by stuff on eBay unless it's some commodity. It's impossible for a merchant to sell real stuff on eBay. He wouldn't get any sales, and he will drop to the 10th page of the search results. eBay is a place where people compete purely on price.

There are quite a few reliable sellers on eBay that sell authentic and decent quality stuff, but you need to know them. They don't try to compete but just use eBay as their sales platform. Don't forget that Yunnan Sourcing also started as an ebay store.

I hear people say that a lot but I think It really depends what your looking for.

If you look often enough you'll see a fair amount of antique-90's yixing. Most of those pots are from estate/yard sale style vendors rather than tea ware shops.

I had the same thought when I saw OldZisha: same skeezy angle as 5000Friend. Some look good online but it’s dodgy buying a pot from a photo. Even a halfway decent fake can look good unil you have it in hand. Fortunately, the “F1s” are obvious fakes.

Yes, no real F1 pots in his collection, but even a 90's/early 2000's F1 fake can be made with very nice clay sometimes. Telling decent clay from pics is the real challenge.
