I feel like I need to counterbalance all these GIANT pots everyone is posting. Here is my latest Yixing gamble based on super blurry photos.

It looks to be the smaller sized xian piao from early 60’s. You can see a very faint mark under lid which is probably 線漂 seal. It also appears to have original wax coating based on cloudiness of sheen. The seller stated is has a crack on body but It looks like it might just be a scratch in wax. These pots are ridiculously expensive these days so it’ll be well worth the cost of staples if it indeed is a crack and is authentic. I’ll repost once it arrives.

This looks like a nice pot but it doesn’t look like F1 to me either. I vaguely remember someone else posting (here or on TC) a very similar pot from Jing which was late 90-00’s. That would be my guess for this one too.

Nevermind, Jing listed it as early 90’s so I assume this is same pot.

Very cute chubby shuiping. At 70ml, it should do well with Yancha. Is this zini or hongni?

@DailyTX: thanks; actually it is zhu ni, I believe. Perhaps a tiny bit darker in tone than 'usual', though it could just be the cloudy day, It's drinking some yancha at the moment, so it's got a glow on.

Nice pot! The lines are very elegant on this one. Zhuni and yancha sounds like a good match.

The gamble arrived today. The pot is indeed early 60’s but unfortunately I was wrong about the crack being a scratch. Luckily it is on the back side so it’ll display nice until I get around to fixing it.

It’s Zhuni and it’s a lovely example of how to do Shuiping shape right.

@Chadrinkincat nice one! One or two staples should be enough to fix that.

Thanks! The crack is definitely a bummer. I’d imagine it would require at least 3-4 staples because it starts on the rim and ends just above base rim.

@Chadrinkincat: even cracked, it looks like it was a bargain. I admire your ability to find these things on ebay of all places, and to take pleasure out of gambles like this.

If you don't mind my asking, where do you get staple repairs (or kintsugi repairs) done? I've heard of Nissan Haque who I think is based in New York city, but have no experience personally. Otherwise, I assume that these kinds of repairs are mostly done in Asia and without an online or Western-facing presence.

I'm asking both because I'm curious, and also because someone in the postal system has destroyed a nice old bowl that I got... Fortunately, not a teapot.
