Hot diggity, the golden goose egg!! Coming in at almost 7k, if it’s ZAG’s. Sure looks like it, a real Qing beauty 🔥
Thank god I didn’t enquirer about the price for this one from ZAG. They definitely have the nicest selection of pots available online with the price to match. I doubt I’ll have the opportunity to buy any of their pricier pots so it it nice to see others that can, sharing their experience with us.

@Andrew S don’t be shy about sharing more photos of your ZAG pots.

It is a pleasure to use, though. The lid fit, pour, and overall elegance is much finer than what I'd have imagined to be the case from so long ago (and actually much finer than almost any other pot that I have).

A real beauty along with your very special image of others receding into the distance.

First test drive with this pot after being made whole, more than two years without ever having used it! Some gifted Alishan Jinxuan comes out rather nicely, no initial muting as far as I can tell. Heat test also passed, the ribbon is enough to handle the blistering hot lid.

Silver? I'm sure it'll tarnish beautifully, even if it doesn't get tea poured over it. Silver always looks better to me tarnished than clean.

But in the meantime, there's something about it that looks like it belongs in an 80s Hollywood blockbuster.

Haha, yes! Agreed, I’m also looking forward to its developing patina.

Agreed! Yeah, that one really commanded a fortune. Deservedly so, the craftsmanship looks impeccable for that period. Super rare for anyone in our neck of the woods to get their hands on. I have never seen another one like it. Glad @Andrew S shared. I get excited when other people share their pots. All part of the fun.

Wow. It has been a while since I've been in this thread. I think I've missed about 250 pages of chat 😅.

Anyway, I've gotten a lot more than just these two pots I'm gonna post, since I was sort of active on here, but these are the most recent and maybe the "best".

Old pots

So the first is a Fu Ji pot in a bit of an odd shape, though its a shape I've seen before. It has a pretty interesting gold repair around the skirt of the lid.

Second is a Junde pot, possibly Qing proper, with what looks like black bones, by the metallic sheen. It is also slightly ferromagnetic in some spots on the lid.

@Teachronicles

That gold repair on that Fuji pot is beautiful!

I recently bought a Fuji zhuni pot w/ serious lid damage that deserves this sorta treatment. I can’t imagine what this sorta repair would cost in the US, assuming I could even find someone that could do it.

@TeaTotaling and @Chadrinkincat: thanks; just doing what I can to bring some of these old pots into the desolate wasteland that is my country (at least in terms of tea and teapots). With any luck, there'll be a decent estate sale after I'm gone (unless I decide to take some pots with me, and they need to be 'excavated' after a few years).

I'll make sure to post more photos, but this one will probably be appearing next to a dark cup of liu an based on its current drinking preferences.

Ya i believe the collector i got the pot from (in Taiwan) had the repair done in China, but I'm not 100% sure.

Yah the level of repairs in Asia is on another level, understandably. I'm not sure either, that you could find someone that could do it in the US.

that reinforces my impression of it being slightly under-fired.

Quite en-vogue among Asian collectors for a while now, those repairs keep popping up in my feeds... a good alternative for staples which some dislike and longer lasting than Kintsugi.
