Youzi I have a Duanni from the 80's that suffers from tuhei. Is this more of an aesthetic issue, or does it in fact affect tea brewing?

Well tuhei happens as the Duanni is underfired and the inside tea leaks through to the outside, I’ll let you figure out what that means...

TuHei is very common among 80s DuanNi....

@OCTO Good to know, thanks. Is 80's Duanni known to be more muting, in this case, due to the prevalence of TuHei? Maybe it's best to use for Shou, which was my first selection. Previously, I was liking it with Red Tea, but upon further experimentation I'm finding too many aromas and flavors are muted.

I use my DuanNi that encounters tuhei when I need to entertain a group of friends who aren’t tea connoisseurs. Usually brew simple roasted oolong that needs rounding off. That maximizes the muting ability of the pot.

I see these often on ebay. Probably ROC era export to Europe. Price depends on condition and quality of the decoration. Around 100USD, a bit more for a nice one.

That must be from some cha dao canon, isn't it, @.m.? Tea pot, a focal point, lower third right in the middle. Dear guests all around it, center proper. Well mannered folly, shoes off when atop a desk, illegal booze stowed in the wicker basket, calling in for some boiling water or something . Happy new year all!

It is a weird scene that looks to be fully staged in a very theatrical manner. Indeed, the teapot takes the esthetic center around which this decadent folly is constructed. Happy new year!

Pot is huge, half a liter probably.

Based on clay, workmanship, and seals, this teapot looks modern (post 1990s, probably also post 2000s). The seal is blurry so it's hard to see, but it does not look like it says "meng chen" to me.

This is a very thin and dirty hongni pot from my dad's collection. He believes it is at least pre 90s. Would appreciate the opinions of the experts! Thank you!



Color differences would be due to change in lighting. Two pics were taken under bright sun. The others under overcast conditions with some indoor lights. I will note which ones were under the bright sun.
