For Japanese tea within EU (actually France) I would recommend Kancha Tea. I have only tried puerh and white from this shop, but the Japanese greens have had extra good comments among experienced drinkers from French forum http://www.forumdesamateursdethe.fr.

Protip: Japan is considered a trustworthy country by Italian customs, so half the time they won't even bother to inspect the package if there's enough info on it.

That's great to know thanks. However, if I might get away with inspection costs, I'd still have to pay import duties due to the Japanese not willing to under-declare it..

Thanks will check it out.
Ideally I'd like to source different types of tea from the same vendor for convenience but the only places online that cover a wide range of teas in one place seem to be shops like palais or mariagefreres which are on the expensive side.. & :?

Exactly... and i would say that :? Is more concerning than the price, because even if you pay you’ll not have what you could expect.

Actually I'm thinking that if I order from CH, and they're willing to declare the value under €22, I might be fine.. I mean, I'd be surprised if a parcel from Switzerland had to undergo inspection! mmm...

By Switzerland, you mean «Tea Mania» online shop? Or are they other shops you found in Switzerland?

Thanks :)

Btw, I forgot to mention I normally like to get BIO (organic) teas whenever possible. What would be my best bet?

The best is to check out on the websites or to write to the shop to ask them. Shui Tang has some organic, but in japanese tea there is only matcha. I can't find the mention "organic"on Laenggasstee but I would be surprised if the had nothing.

Oh sorry, I didn't mean relative to these two websites only, I meant in general. After all there are so many online tea shops out there it's a jungle so if I narrow it down to those that sell organic and that specify dates of harvest it should make it easier - or harder, more likely haha ;)

What kind of organic tea are you looking for?

Hi,
Any sort really! :D
I've actually just ordered some organic Assam/Darjeeling so I should be fine for a while when it comes to Indian teas. So now I'd be looking to source some Chinese/Taiwanese/Japanese organic teas. I'm having a hard time, though, trying to find some good ones that are based in the EU, clearly state date of harvest and are organic. All these things somehow seem to be mutually exclusive for some reason  I could always go back to teaway.it, which is decent, but I've been hoping to find some alternatives, hopefully with better value for money, and more customer-oriented.........

For Japanese tea I’d recommend Thes du Japon or O-cha (both based in Japan) for some choice in organic tea.

Have a look at The Tea Crane as well.
