As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, zoey lee is a source of mostly dancong (and also yancha) as well as modern cz pots. Before, i had thought she only supplied other vendors such as kyarazen - but you can directly order from her via ig:

Prices for tea are not budget - seem to be somewhere between wuyi origin and teahabitat/hojo at 1-2$/g for the western audience. Hopefully people can share their impressions here.

Thanks for researching this! I'm currently not looking for dancong after several mediocre experiences, but I might try this vendor sometime in the future. I wonder if you can contact her via her website instead of via Instagram.

"heavily roasted" but you don't taste a heavy roast. You do get a lot of other tastes but never give us an idea about how you feel about the tea (like, dislike.....?)

I have not drunk much dancong but have been drinking some from Wuyi Origin the last few days. It is for pure enjoyment instead of pleasure mixed w/ work, my final stage of choosing what to sell & how to describe the teas. (I know I won't be selling Wuyi's teas, so can just relax & drink.)

Anyway, this dancong pleases me greatly & I don't pick up hardly any flavor besides roast & certainly not specific flavors. It's strange that for about a year when I have enjoyed roasted tea much less than I used to, that now I really like a dancong, a tea that has never seemed special to me before. Also, it is amusing that you, Leo, list so many flavors but have me wondering whether you like that dancong

Which dancongs did you get from Wuyi Origin? I got the Bai Ye, Dong Fang Hong, and Song Zhong, along with my favourite, Mi Lan Xiang. All but the MLX had a roasty, woody, mineral flavour to me, and I couldn't distinguish much difference. Maybe that was because they were from spring 2023 and I tried them in winter 2024, so the roast hadn't had time to settle. (I also left some in the packages to try at a later date.) There were no off flavours and basically no bitterness, so I think the fault was in the drinker, not the tea. That experience has led me to leave dancong alone for a while and focus on other teas that I can appreciate more, though I'll probably go back to it at some point.

BTW, their Mi Lan Xiang is miles different and has upfront notes of honey, lychee, and other fruit, with virtually no detectable roast. Highly recommended!

Gaoshan, I have a blend from 2023. I am looking for an old email of my order because I transferred the tea from its original pouch (which probably had specifics on it) to a smaller foil packet. (I'll PM when I find it.)

Yeah, I ordered 100 g of dancong for science! I seem to like only a tiny fraction of the dancongs out there. I probably need to order from a specialist like Hojo or maybe Zoey's Tea, depending on LeoFox's reviews. I need to evaluate how much I'm willing to spend on teas I may or may not enjoy.
