The owners of The Steeping Room are very fond of East Asian teas but aren’t snooty either. They do a lot of work. It’s not uncommon for them to test two dozen samples of a tea before deciding on what to carry. They can’t carry a $100/oz yancha because it won’t sell: peach rooibos and the like pays the bills for most tea houses. However, they do their best to carry interesting, affordable fine teas.
I like that they are supportive of other tea houses and the community. For example, they were preparing free lunches and dinners for frontline workers during the first wave.
Not only do they have good taste, they are generous, loving people.
