Let me know what you think about the 2018 Gedeng. I ordered some samples a while back but still stuck in shipping. I absolutely love the Spring '18 Gedeng gushu from a different source but it's way more expensive. I'm curious to compare
I definitely keep you posted!!

Excellent! I was quite pleased with the Zhang Xiang Qing Bing as well. From what I remember of the sample, I think I slightly prefer it to the Mengsa, overall. You are right about the Qianjiazhai, energy is the driving force.
Agreed, my preference is for the Zhang Xiang Qing Bing as well. The Mengsa probably has better leaf quality, but the storage profile of the Zhang Xiang Qing Bing is much more to my liking. I have a feeling we're in the minority on this one though. I really hope more people share their experience with the Mengsa in the "What Pu'er Are You Drinking" thread (or elsewhere), seems like quite a few forum members bought a cake.

I had qianjiazhai samples before, but felt the opposite on this one. I like drinking this tea, but don't recall getting any body feel. Perhaps tea energy could manifest differently for different individuals, even for those who are sensitive to it 🍵
Yeah, I think you're definitely right about the last point. For me, the energy and overall body feel I get from a tea is fairly consistent from session to session (with only special conditions, such as having had a terrible night's sleep or an upset stomach bringing in a factor of unpredictability). But I've had many teas that others describe as either very strong or lacking in this compartment, where my experience has been completely different.

Would be interesting to hear what you think about the 2001 Mengsa once you've had a few sessions with it!
I am curious if anyone bought the EOT 2018 10 year anniversary tea, and your experience on that tea.

@klepto I caught it, and tried the #1 packet yesterday. Put 12g's in 150ml antique Zini. I had a good session with it. The flavor was concentrated, bright, with a pleasant bitterness. The energy was flowing quite well. I boiled the spent leaves at the end of the session and the energy persisted! I will be curious to try #2 to compare.

What has your experience been?

I haven't tried any of them yet but people on their Facebook group page were wanting to know what was in the bags but EoT doesn't know because the farmers did it. I'm sure the tea is good but why give us random tea from some farmer as education? What can we learn about something we don't know anything about.

@klepto I wouldn't worry about the noise from the FB chatter, it's very simple. It's all single tree 2019 Sheng Puerh from a remote village in the Wuilang Mountains. Knowing the specifications of each tea tree is mostly irrelevant. It's Old Tree Sheng from Wuilang.

The educational comparison comes into play by noting the differences single trees can have within the same mountain range, and even within the same village. I certainly had an enjoyable start!

@klepto I just read the letter and did a little research on their website. It's from the same farmer who grew their Bamboo Spring Puerh, take a look see.

Let me know your feedback on your first sampling, enjoy!

I put 4.5 grams in my 80ml porcelain gaiwan. It tastes similar to their cake I bought a while back Wuliang wild.
I'm happy to have more of it and the differences in the other bags will be very interesting. I kept the steepings
very short at the beginning and staggered them out to the end.
