Hi, I just joined and am searching for a new source for “golden” Yunnan tea. I’ve ordered “Golden Monkey” from Adagio for years. But, I’m finally fed up with their customer service and have heard I could probably find higher quality Yunnans at better prices elsewhere. Does anyone have a recommendation for a vendor or specific teas? I’m in the United States and looking for online vendors (no high quality tea shops in my town). Thanks so much!

Welcome!

Yunnan Sourcing is a popular and well regarded shop for Yunnan blacks and puerh.

They have warehouses in China and US both.

The US site seems to have some golden monkey.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried this particular offering. Instead of placing all your eggs in one basket, go ahead and try a few different teas :)

There's a vendor thread too.

Much superior to yunnan sourcing in my opinion.

I don't have a lot of experience with Golden Monkey. However, I'm pretty sure it's typically from Fujian, not Yunnan, so it may have a different flavour profile from regular golden Yunnan teas. To me, Fujian teas tend to be fruitier and less tannic.

Having said that, I'd also recommend Yunnan Craft. Camellia Sinensis in Quebec also has a Golden Monkey, though I've never tried it.
