Perfection. By ‘infusion’ what do you mean? You steep the alpine plants like artemisia (wormwood) used in Genepy in hot water or? Also, curious if you can recommend a brand that is less sweet, most commercial ones are way too sweet for my taste.

Ive tried it in tea and honey when sick 😆. Helps open the nose.

@Teafortea thank you for your recommendations. Looks like Génépi des Cîmes has no distributor in USA. I also make my own infusions using local herbs. One that you might enjoy trying that’s Austrian is Zirbenz Stone Pine Liqueur of the Alps. Tastes exactly like stone pine, very special.

Back to black, I’ve been enjoying two first flush Darjeeling blacks from Thunderbolt; 2018 Singbulli Tea Estate Thunder and 2019 Barnesbeg Tea “Himalayan Queen”. Both prefer to be steeped cooler around 180F using fewer leaves, more time 2.5g/100ml/175-185f/3-4min.

Thx will try that, hubby is passionate about bitters, Monténégro is his favorite.

I'm looking fwd to the teas from thunderbolt. The owner apologized for my package which apparently got damaged by the authorities during inspection so I'm waiting for the new package. Hopefully soon, can't wait.

More Victorian Afternoon, a very nice smoked Russian Caravan from Mark T. Wendell. Personally, I think it is their strongest blend, as it relies on something they are good at (smoked tea) without being exclusively smoked tea, which I appreciate as someone who can only handle so much Lapsang Souchong. :lol:

Finally some good darjeeling. I have a cold and even with that I can still taste and smell the good tea I was looking for. I had it the western way and it just hit the spot for my sore throat.

Hojo 2022 Singbulli estate

The aroma after I put the leaves in the warm pot was very cocoa sweet. Taste was full body and long lasting, with a touch of bitterness but not overwhelming.

@Teafortea Yes, they are really great pots! And the clay really does make tea taste better. Is that what you’re using in post above, with Hojo magic? :lol: How you strain loose leaf tea in this thing, just pour slowly or external filter?

@ferg I use a strainer while pouring the tea.

I call it my lazy day teapot. Works well when I just want a good cup of tea without the fuss of multiple infusions.

Drinking leftover tea from Brown Betty last night. Been a steeping for over 24 hours, tastes nice and strong! 😋

Never let tea, or coffee, go to waste.

Honey in my cup :). I prefer ttc last year OB better, more after taste and body.
Hojo's was good also. Perfect for spring weather.

Bitaco Tea Estate Afternoon, from the only tea plantation in the country of Colombia.

5 grams per 130 mL with water at 200 gave infusions (starting at 60 seconds) that were beautifully well-balanced with notes of ripe peach, honeysuckle, and cedar. Tannins were relatively silky, with just a touch of textural astringency. Definitely worth drinking if anyone comes across it, imo.

I'm having 2021 Yesheng Hong Cha (wild red tea) from New York Tea Society.
Tasting notes are grape and light cocoa.

Due to an unexpected improvement in my health, I've been dipping my toes back into tea as an experiment.

Good luck for your return to drinking tea. Moving to Dallas might be more of a shock to your system than tea's caffeine :o
