What White Are You Drinking

That happened to me too. Great while fresh, but don't really age well.
green color not necessary have to be sign of the heat processing. i'm guessing this tea was cooked after picking based on this crazy vibrant green color.

this was half of a 10g sample. takes up a ton of volume.
it's pretty decent. nutty and a bit peppery like some green teas, but it has white tea notes.
Nutty & peppery ...yes, that could be a sign of the "roast" .
And actually , I'm looking at your pic again, it has only the green leaves , so yep , seems like leaf had no chance / time to oxidize at all.

Finally did the taste-off. 2001 surprisingly had more lingering fragrance -- I guess due to being stored drier? It also had a little waxiness I didn't find in the 2011 (although not enough to be distracting). Been enjoying several 2022 1st flush whites from Thunderbolt especially; Castleton Moonlight Imperial and Margaret’s Hope Moonlight. Both are exceptional having layered complexity, aromatics and that characteristic champagne like structure. They are both an AV2 Clonal - a Chinese bush (Camellia sinensis var sinensis) (not -Assam bush, Camellia sinensis var assamica), and more in the style of Yunnan whites. Ordered these in the Spring but am only now getting to them. They’re not cheap >1g=$1 usd but we’ll worth it.

“ For years people have tried to quantify why Darjeeling teas have such rich flavor with a Chinese bush (Camellia sinensis var sinensis) lineage compared to an Assam bush (Camellia sinensis var assamica). A study was conducted in 1980’s had a resulting theory that thrip and greenfly infestations stunted leaf growth resulting in the plant creating higher biochemical compounds in defense. A more recent study conducted in 2012 indicates higher exposure to Ultraviolet (UV) radiation due to higher elevation in comparison to lower elevations. While in both instances, the causes were stresses and the effect was increased biochemical production within the plant, yet the UV radiation is more consist in application of the stress and thrip populations can vary throughout the course of a growing season depending on natural predators and other field management controls.”
Wild Garden Red Jade White Tea (Shanlinxi) via Wang Family Tea. Ordered a couple of teas from this seller and this one's my fav. Sweet and fragrant, with a lingering aromatic woodiness that reminds me a bit of linden tea. The leaves are fun to play with and take up a lot of space (5g on pic).
I got a nice package from @aet via YunnanCraft. There were some white teas that I wanted to try first.
2022 Bada Shan Wild White:
A fantastic white tea that has real stamina. Juicy lemonade notes that evolved into something like a creamy popsickle.
it left a nice film on my tongue and the flavor lingered for a very long time. I'm buying a cake of this. This is a blend of
puerh material processed into a white tea cake. It is great value as you can steep it a very long time.
2021 Zi Ya - ya bao:
Love from Lincang. I've had raw ya bao before which tasted like sheng puerh but a bit nuttier. This is not that!
This reminds me of the fruity cereal I eat when I was a kid, now I've grown up and find healthier fruity cereals.
I like to be surprised by tea sometimes.
These two teas are unique and very tasty. I look forward to trying everything I ordered but my bladder is full
