Having a slightly-aged white tea from July 2020, white monkey paw varietal from wild old bushes, after having a June 2022 version a little while ago.

Both very nice... The 2022 was bright, refreshing, starting on lemony freshness and delicate flowers before becoming deeper, more herbal, then more honeyed and later some spices, all with a lively mouthfeel.

Today's 2020 started with a savoury aroma but with pears and pastry on the palate, equally fresh on the aftertaste, and then darker fruits and jams in later infusions but maintaining a nice bright mouthfeel and aftertaste.

I need to drink and age more white tea, it seems...

Saw a bit of wild white here in months gone by.

Here is some more non-assamica bug bitten spider webbed wild stuff from big old Yunnan forest trees.

It has that zing on the tongue.

i'm having Castleton Moonlight Imperial White FF '22 (DJ-04) from thunderbolt. i just came across the bag and found it wide open. has been like that for months in the kitchen area. luckily, this treatment has not hurt anything. if anything, it's better than i remember it. really popping with fruity flavor.

A very enjoyable white tea for metoday: 2020 wild old bush shuixian from YiLan.

Bright and elegant, light-bodied but mouth-coating and persistent, with lots of changes from brew to brew, and during each brew (bright citrus flavours at first and rather mild aromas; then more aromatic with darker and deeper flavours but staying fresh and vibrant; then more fruits with mineral and minty characters in the finish...).

Hello.

2018 Bai Ya White Peony 200 gr cake.
Quite cheap tea but tasty one. A lot of white tips. Fruity flavour and taste plus a bit of citrus. Nice tea.
Duanni yellow pot, huaning pitcher, japanese porcelain cup.

Many, truly many, infusions into this evening session with a peculiar aged white I received as a gift when overseas.

Jay Shree's Darjeeling Second Flush Mellow White.

Quality appears decent, with lots of white hairs on the leaves, which are mostly whole and picked as two leaves and a bud.

5 g of tea in a 140mL Duanni pot, water at 185F, steeped for 1:30, 1:45, and 2:00

First infusion is gentle, with honey and floral (arugula/mustard blossoms) overtones over an earthy roasted root vegetable backbone. Zero tannins, zero bitterness. There's a significant underlying energy in this tea, whether that's cha qi or its particular combination of theine and l-theanine and other amino acids or whatever I can't say. It's not full of nervous, jittery energy, just a calm awareness that draws one to the present.

Second infusion has much of the same, with the root vegetable note maturing into roasted onion and a hint of green branch-esque astringency joining at the end, but it's still mainly dominated by the honey and floral notes. The last sip as it was coming to room temp was redolent of white peach and guava.

Third infusion starts off with bruised peach skin, then gets deeply savory. Mineral notes are starting to come out, like the smell of rain on a mountain and freshly disturbed moss. It finishes clean, with that fruitiness coming back in the form of dried peach/papaya retronasal aroma. The tannins are just barely starting to come to the surface, with a mild astringency at the end of each sip that would likely become unpleasant if pushed farther.

For an assamica white, it's pretty delicious.

A gift from a friend, Darjeeling, Arya Peal white tea. That’s what the label said, I have no idea.

It’s quite elegant, very light, yet not afraid of hot water. Reminds me a bit of some high mountain, very green Oolong I
had once a long time ago, a very cold tea in character.

Not bad for a change.

Steve suggested I try boiling this tea one day in our correspondence and I have to say it is quite delicious this way as well.

DigitalSparks,

You did not say how that tea tastes, but your photography strongly implies it is delicious & special. Cheers
