Nice list @LeoFox. I’m more focused on 1st flush Darjeeling and Shincha, but welcome spring offerings from Taiwan as well . In the past I’ve ordered spring oolong from from HY Chen, Floating Leaves (now operating out of Taiwan), and Tillerman.

A few weeks ago, I got some Alishan, Shan Lin Xi, Farmer's Choice Baozhong, and traditional high mountain oolong from Floating Leaves. (I would have gotten some Lishan, but it wasn't available.) I'm delighted that they've moved to Taiwan and the shipping to Canada is more reasonable.

I've only tried the Shan Lin Xi, which is gloriously aromatic as always but a little grassy. I'm playing with the steeping parameters, so I'm glad I got a bunch of it.

I'm also in the process of ordering some spring 2021 oolongs from Wang Family Tea. They have five types of oolong from the Shan Lin Xi area, including a Gui Fei and a green Shui Shan.

A bit late to the party, just sampling spring Gaoshan now… partly because I care a lot less about this kind of tea than many years ago, but it’s still got a place in my tea stash, if only for being the kickstart of my tea passion in earnest : > )

Got three samples, one Lishan and two Dayuling. First impressions are that I do slightly prefer the Lishan and one of the Dayuling, the other being a bit too green for my taste. But I’ll need to brew it some more times in different to come to a final conclusion - and also ask about the price, which of course is also part of the equation.

All in all very good teas, seems like the ones who could harvest had a good one.

Reporting now on the da yu ling mentioned in the previous post that Bok found too green for his taste. A generous sample of this was included in my teapot shipment. Thank you @@Bok!

The rolled balls are pretty big and had a nice umami and dried fruit smell. Very enticing!

Brewed 5g in 85 mL gaiwan.
No rinse. 40s/ 30s/ 40s etc. for about 10 infusions

The leaf expanded to the point the lid was popping up by 2nd infusion.
The infusion is very brothy and thick to the end of the session. This frames the more dynamic aspects of the tea: a baked fruit sweetness that peaks with the second and third infusion and then slowly tails off; a greener herbal character and a minerality that gets stronger in the later steepings; a strong fragrance that arrives in smaller and smaller waves: and a green vegetal character that gets more pronounced over time that may attribute to some astringency that slightly pokes the stomach.

To me it's very good. If I were choosing, it would boil down to a price-to-quality assessment. I'm sure this is more expensive than the lishan.

The way you describe it sounds delicious and like I should have actually chosen it, haha. Anyways, glad you liked it. Was a good harvest this spring. Few in volume, but high in flavours.

Brewing this same tea now in kobiwako clay. The difference is a very noticeable deletion of the fragrance along with thickening of mouthfeel and emphasis on more spicy notes that were not as discernable as before. The brothiness and sweetness are also more integrated and layered.
