Tie Luo Han from Jing Tea Shop. A pleasing earthy Wuyi with a rock tea taste. It's been a long time since I had some of this to enjoy. Mmmm.

Enjoying some 'Diaoqiaotou Tie Guan Yin "Goddess Drop" Jade Oolong Tea - Winter 2017' from TaiwanSourcing. Infusing it in my small Seong-Il crackly shino porcelain pot and from one of his smoky shino cups, small jewels for a delicate floral jewel of a tea.

HY Chens Dongding in my new Chaozhou pot. Turns out very nice in it. No stolen flavours.

If you're really nice to him, he might sell you a bit of his 30-year aged Dongding... I liked it more than the one at Wistaria, but that is just my opinion.

I wasn’t impressed by the aged Dongding at Wistaris, actually rather disappointing...

A very interesting cup this morning. It is a dancong leaf processed in the Wuyi style by my tea friend Cindy Chen's family.

I am very pleased to find that the Wuyi roasting does not mask the the distinct dancong character which is powerfully present (I personally find most good dancong to be wonderfully powerful teas.) The liquor is a little darker than for a "normal" dancong. The tea has great weight in the mouth and a very long persistent finish. The Wuyi roas is evident but very balanced.

This tea is a wonderful surprise - it is very good and a fine example of some of the benefits of experimentation.

Thank you Cindy.

That sounds really interesting. Is it Ta Fu hou 塌富后 dancong that is on their web site?

This little fella from Chaozhou performs outstandingly well with all sorts of roasted teas so far! Dancong, Dong Ding, Shuixian and now bug bitten Oolong from Chen Hua Ying.

Really happy I bought it, although the order from China was a risk...

Pour and handling are just beautiful.

Another lesson in: always test for yourself. CZ pots have a rep for being muting, but this one is well fired and has good clay.

Despite its reputation, a lot of good things can be found there...
