interesting that the extra funk is associated with the cherry afterwards... I would not have expected that.

Snowy day, brewing some of the 2019 Yunshang heizhuan at the home office. There's something magical about working during the "Boxing week", absolutely no disturbances at work. Calls for a different approach to choosing what teas to have and how to brew them.

I like Hei Zhuan teas. They are unbelievably cheap but soooo much tasty ;)

This one I can highly recommend : 2012 CNNP Hunan Hei Zhuan
1 kg for 50 $.

Yes, they are often good value for the money. The Yunshang teas, particularly this line, commands a higher price than that, but the price per gram is still very kind to the wallet.

The problem (which is true for most Anhua heichas) is usually that you have to commit to a kilo of tea, sometimes without being able to sample in advance.

Nor did i. Its an interesting tea - but ultimately not something i will actively seek out.

I think its much kinder to the gut than shu or lb - that often just triggers the runs for me

We got cheated from big LB producing TF recently.
They claim tea to be like 13y aged but tastes like 2y old shu, not like LB at all ( like literally no basement notes but caramel sweet-sour notes ) . Means like they would have to store it in hermetically sealed storage , because when you get out of the Wuzhou trainstation and go to the basement section get a taxi, you can smell that wet basement right after the elevator doors open ;-) ...and there is no LB yet ;-)
It is interesting taste so we took few kg despite the BS claim , because I enjoying it by drinking my self ;-))))
What I'm trying to say here is " enjoy the taste not the age claims "....I know it tastes better if you were told it's like XX y old or something ;-) I've been there as well.
This is just a kind reminder, not an advertising. Please don't misunderstand me ;-)
