Anyone try the 2005-03 batch of XG jiaji tuo from Cloud(HK)? Any thought on how it compares to other batches from 2004-2006?

Way too young but always good storage potential for these guys.

I just checked on a tuo from 1997 and it's still smoky, astringent and rough but bittersweet on the finish and follow thru.... And this is after 10 years hot humid Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia... Also tight as nails, impossible to flake nicely... For now...

No doubt that this one is still quite young.

Believe it or not many westerners actually consume these XG tuo even younger than this one. I usually find these pretty nasty until at least 10yrs.

Westerners are known to consume young/fresh pu erh like green tea lol. I think a lot of westerners consume pu erh relies on date rather than if the tea has enough aging. A 2005 tuo vs 2005 cake can vary drastically. Aging condition is also a huge factor.

Usually fine unless it’s Kunming stored. I don’t use super high leaf to water ratios that much any more so that might explain why it rarely bothers me.

Good to hear you all discussing this. I'm not a fan of drinking young sheng puer - except occasionally. Even with shu puer I prefer it to be 10 years old or more. Young puer seems to be so popular these days.

To the topic, I've never tried this or any of Cloud's tea. Has anyone tried or purchased his tea?

@DailyTX

Yea I’m very confused how anyone can tolerate drinking XG tuo w/ only a few years of Kunming storage.

I ordered 8 of these tuo from Cloud so I’ll update this thread once the tea arrives.

I too puzzled at one point. My guess is like coffee. People start with instant coffee, slowly migrate to Starbucks, then something fancy like Blue bottle coffee, and then they started brewing their own coffee thinking back the instant coffee tasted like mud + water :lol:
