What was the East Coast's equivalent of the Imperial Tea Court?

Meaning a business that was an early adopter of pu'er that popularized it among people who did not know about it. Did the old dim sum restaurants like Nom Wah in New York City serve pu'er? Like where would a person have tried pu'er on the East Coast in 1997?

I've drunk Pu Erh in NYC, in Chinese restaurants and first trip was in 1996...
