The Hojo package doesn't say, but non-fermented loose leaf can also suggest leaf that is sun-dried and not subjected to chaqing. Every once in awhile a sun-dried tea shows up somewhere for sale, very often it is so-called "single-forest, or "single tree." Sun-dried teas generally won't "ferment," as in what is most definitely called "solid state fermentation" with regard to puerh tea, simply because the leaf was dried out after picking. I don't know for sure that is the case with this tea, it's just something to watch out for, and listings can be tricky to read and know exactly what the product is.

Yesterday I had the first Puerh that I actually liked: a sheng of about 10 years aged, non HK storage. Brew was a lovely orange and the taste surprised me. Still hints of wood and old books but the taste almost reminiscent of Darjeeling or aged black tea. Slightly, but pleasantly bitter.

So it seems I like not too humid storage sheng. :)

That is normal, most people prefer clean storage to overly humid storage. You just have to live with the fact that it will take longer to age that way.

Enjoying 2007 YQH 'Huang Shan LingYa’ sheng through afternoon into the evening. Like Bok I prefer dryer storage and I believe this is a good example. It has a pleasant thick viscosity and sweet expansive complex aspects that transform through each steep. I didn’t get any bitterness until I over steeped at 9th. The wet leaf aroma has a lot of smokiness, but I'm glad that doesn’t transfer into flavor profile. Lots of expansive cooling camphor notes too into 2nd-6th and minerality, as well some spicy plumminess. I’ll let it steep overnight. Thanks for the gift pedant.

Thinking of Taisuke Shiraiwa and Asako Isobe’s parents who live in Hokkaido where they just had a 6.7 earthquake. Many landslides and power outages.

Using Taisuke Shiraiwa yuzamashi and cup and steeped in Shawn McGuire shiboridashi.

What a neat pot, with the squat shape and natural-feeling branch sculptures. Was the session as tasty as it was beautiful?

I'm currently enjoying a happy 'accident': I had too little of Norbu's lovely Red Alishan oolong left for it's own session, so I added the last fines from the bag to an in progress session with some Lao Ban Pen from Essence of Tea. The first impression is a little more Red Alishan, the finish is more Lao Ban Pen. Very nice.

I've been drinking shu for the last few days which is a very rare occurrence for me. I added a couple XG tuos and some random samples to a recent order in hopes that i could rekindle my fondness of shu. Used a new lower fired 120ml zini shuiping for these.

2011 XG xiao fa 10g: Still a bit of fermentation funk but faded quickly. Pretty enjoyable but too much leaf for my stomach to handle. I prefer this one with much less leaf.

2016 XG lesong tuo 6g: still quite a bit of fermentation funk. Seems like a fairly mellow and sweet shu.

2007 7572 5g: classic creamy shu. A humid version of this should be part of my winter tea line up.

Early 2000's brick 5g and 10g: absolutely no funk present in this one. Mellow and sweet. Sorta reminds of a mix of 06 7581 and 7598. No unpleasantness from using 10g.

It's prob time to toss out the crappy shu I have from my first online pu order from my early days. First to go is a jar of broken haiwan, hailanghao and other small factories from 06-09 that I was never that fond of and have never improved. This pot didn't make them anymore drinkable.

Nope.. 80s larger version (600cc). This pot on your wish list?? Hahahaha.... how many you want to get?? I can help you source for it. It’s relatively easy to get them here. But it’s not cheap to get one with good clay and old workmanship. More so if you’re looking at 60s.

Cheers!!

I've moved to a cold place, and therefore I've recently switched to drinking more ripe pu erh. On a regularly basis I'm drinking mainly 2015 dayi V93 as a daily drinker. It's a relatively simple, accessible sweet ripe. What i also like about it, is that it's not as tightly compressed as Xiaguan tuochas.

Craftsmanship looks good on this one. Oddly I've actually come accross quite a few of these lately but they're either far too big (600ml) or mediocre details. Do you happen to know if f1 made these in 80-120ml?

Yes. F1 does produce a smaller version of this pot but it’s slightly bigger than your preferred size. It’s approximately 150cc.

Cheers!

Today was a good day for pleasant tea with pleasant Qi. Started off with 2002 Nan Jian Te Zhi ripe tuo. This tea always satisfies me with it's relaxing energy. Moved onto 2016 Huang Shan raw from Yun Hai Zhi Dian. I saw the maker tasting and buying the tea for 2017 version while on tea tour. This comes from trees scattered throughout the Yiwu mountains. Refined for a young tea with pleasant relaxing energy.
