Delicious orange infused shou goodness with smooth and creamy mouthfeel, hints of vanilla and a mellowing qi. 2016 Orange Drop from white2tea.

Warren you seem to have a pretty serious stash of tea :D
I need to check Warren's stash out...
Sadly when I took a hiatus from Steepster I deleted my cupboard and tasting log and it’s way too much work to add all my teas back in.
I should probably hide mine as well....

Tonight I'm drinking Elegant Tranquility from Denong Tea. It's a fairly mellow tea but I MIGHT have over-leafed it just a bit this time. I purchased this cake from their booth at World Tea Expo 2016.

Kunming dry storage 7581 from BitterLeaf. This stuff had a sweet flavor when I got it (in person, from Jonah and Coomi) in Kunming. It appears to have been affected by humidity outside and around the sample bag because it is developing light camphor notes! I had the first three infusions (minus one cup) with Guyanese dark rum. 50 degrees F / 10 Celsius here and no heat or insulation!

Dayi 7592 Beijing storage. Sweet, flavored and well balanced with a quite dark liquor. We took out the old good teaware for the session.

TU's 2011 fall Gaoshanzhai for me today. While it's on the relatively cheap end of TU's teas, I quite enjoy this one and think that it will age quite well.

Today my colleagues and I are sharing 2002 early spring Yiwu sheng traditionally stored in HK.

2009 Xinghai Dragon gongting cake (100g). Home aged for almost two years. Nice and sweet aromas now, along with the baby powder and freshly baked bread aromas that I get from my storage. Nice tea, note of oak, date and just the slightest hint of camphor, but something unpleasant remains that I don't think will age out. Like some of the material in the cake was fermented with too much water/too long and then blended with the rest. Nice complexity but the Dayi gongting cakes are much cleaner so I wouldn't buy this again because of that underlying unpleasantness, which was particularly pronounced at the bottom of the last cup I drank!

It is a mild, well matured purple leaf sheng with no astrigency or bitterness. Very drinkable indeed.

Currently enjoying my 6th infusion of 2007 Liming "Golden Peacock" Tippy Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake from Yunnan Sourcing. It’s funny - I have been drinking it at work for a couple of weeks, in rotation with a few other cakes, made in an infuser (bit of a compromise but it’s hard to go ‘full gong fu’ in the office) and I’ve been a bit underwhelmed by this one. However, making it in my gaiwan at home this morning, it’s showing a lot more character!

Just finished my second session with Crimson Rooster from Yunnan Sourcing. It's probably my favorite of their 2017 shou productions of Hui Run, Rooster King, and itself. Dry leaf smells like dark chocolate, a little maple syrup, and a little bit of funk but nothing that can be put into words. Wet, it opens up more and smells like dark chocolate, earth, and sweet caramel. The soup also smells similar and is very aromatic. There is some bitterness in the early steeps which I like quite a bit along with a hint of funk but already nothing compared to how it was maybe a month ago when it arrived which was very much like hot dogs. There are hints of caramel throughout and sweet dried fruit emerges later on. I didn't get as much spice as last time but I suspect that was due to some difference in brewing. I think I leafed it harder in the very least the first time. Some tartness emerges really late which I think really rounds out a shou and will hopefully continue to emerge. The mouthfeel of this is so nice - probably the creamiest tea I've had lately, super thick and oily too. Compared to Rooster King and Hui Run I'd say that this is the middle ground - not as sweet as Rooster King but not as bitter and pungent and Hui Run but more than enough to provide a really interesting session. I'll definitely be picking up more of this.

W2T Sunday Special and Flap Jack.
Both good. Preferred Sunday Special. Only have a sample of it, so will have to put it on the list to buy.
