I don't think it's good... unpleasantly bitter and the ripening wasn't done in a way that's to my liking. The overarching flavor is... peppercorn?
I regret buying 2 whole cakes of it.
I've had a lot better shous. I seem to frequently have bad experiences when trying to support smaller tea businesses.
What Pu'er Are You Drinking
Tried Dayi's fanciest sheng of the year. Lovely sweet and fruity aromas coupled with powerful huigan after the bitterness. Not excessively bitter, either, but no slouch! The huigan and flavor persisted for over 20 minutes. Good stuff but over $300 and not worth it for that price IMO. Surprising amount of chopped leaf considering the price, but it is supposed to be gushu material.

It is a little more than $400 but was more than $600 a little while ago! It was under $300 last week. Should be under $300 on the mainland as well. Seriously smooth and ultra thick with aromatics of grape, plum and spice in early steeps moving into honey, burnt sugar and heavy wood resin in later infusions. The happy feels bordering on insta-coma with this one are immense. 2003 "Conscientious Prescription", aka "Seriously Formula" aka "Serious Formula". A CNNP/Menghai Tea Factory Sheng Puerh commissioned by Hong Kong’s Henry Trading Co.HK Ltd. and inspired by the 7542 recipe. Sample provided via a tea swap by Liquid Proust. Might be tempted to pick more up via EOT or another vendor depending on storage.

Drank Whispering Sunshine from Crimson Lotus Tea again! It's really tasty. I also really like the prominent folds in the wrapper - I'm actually good at refolding this one. The dry leaf of this smells like cucumber, something vegetal, lemongrass, and some peppery pungency. The wet leaf is similar but some tobacco comes out and more vegetal aroma comes out. The flavor of this is the main draw for me. It starts off with a bit of tobacco and lemongrass but eventually becomes more of a savory sweet soup with a great huigan and stickiness in the throat. The savoriness is very similar to saké. I got a lot more cucumber when this arrived and not so much now but it still has a lot of freshness to it. Mouthfeel is okay with a kind of watery thickness and will probably improve with time. There's also some cooling but not a massive amount. Qi is also not super intense but is there. The draw of this tea is definitely the unique savory sweetness of Baiying teas. I also noticed my happy turtle cries as his tea runs off of him.
