What Pu'er Are You Drinking
I am drinking the EOT Zhang Xiang Qing Bing. Seems pretty clean after the second rinse. A bit figgy and plummy , some cooling and hints of sweetness after the sip. Seems comparable to what a HK Henry would be like with some more aggressive storage. 8/10 and hard to find pedigreed tea in this age for the same amount.
2013 Chen Sheng Hao "Ba Da" - Buying Scott's Guangdong stored teas is usually a safe bet for me. But this one is far from ready to be enjoyed yet imo. Sure, seven years is not a long time, but I'm surprised to find a tea with such a young profile after seven years in Guangdong. Would not have been able to distinguish this from typical Kunming storage of a similar length. On the other hand, it's a powerful tea of what seems to be good material, so I'm guessing it will age into something quite nice a bit further down the line.
I actually have a Taiwan stored version of that one around here somewhere. It would probably take some digging to find it. I don't think mine will be as dry stored though.
EoT's 2020 Secret Forest Wild Raw Puerh, a creamy explosion of florals with really good texture. Smelling the dry leaves was enough to know this one would be good. I want a cake of this. EoT sells a green tea version of this. I bet its great too. How much raw puerh should I put in a 80 ml gaiwan?
Edit: What is it with EoT's wild raw puerh.. I love the 2018 Eot Wuliang Wild too, luckily I have a whole cake of it.

Taiwan stored - interesting. Where did you find that? The YS cake was Shanghai and Kunming stored I think. I've been drinking it recently.
Taiwanese do hoard and store a lot of Puerh. They were the ones that kicked off the aged-Puerh wave to begin with, so it makes sense that they are ahead of the game

Yes! You are right. I meant that one specifically - 2000 CNNP Zhang Xiang Bu Lang. I've only seen it carried at YS, and it was Shanghai stored. Curious where he found the same cake but Taiwan stored.
Lots of people based in Taiwan carry Puerh, Yangqinghao probably the most famous among Westerners, Wistaria, Jade Leaf, even Tea masters has some Puerh. Teaswelike is also sourcing from Taiwan it seems. Options, options, options

I have a friend who has contacts with the Taiwan market. His contact has become an invaluable tool to help build my resources. We have had very good quality and proper shipping on anything we have acquired from him.
@Stephen If you like HK storage, I'd definitely give it a go. As mentioned a couple pages earlier, I bought two cakes of it after a single session with a sample, which is pretty rare for me. Then again I really dig the storage profile and it's not easy to find at that price point among Western facing vendors..
@Balthazar Sounds like a good one! I'll check it out
