I’m so jealous of your foam. This is my latest foam ‘achievement’!

You’ll do it easily with practice!

@Elise

Your photos are so elegant. Are they from a tea ceremony?

This is my latest “foam” achievement. I used 160° water and a new matcha, O-cha Kaoru Supreme organic Matcha. A little more bitter than my favorites, but somehow the bitterness is not as unpleasant for me as the bitterness of sencha.

@Janice: When you see people wearing kimono it’s from chanoyu ceremony practitioners at the school I attend. I really enjoy the beauty of the harmony of the kimono colors and all the simple but elegant objects.

Here is a super foamy matcha I achieved with a little trick. It’s not made with a chasen but by adding a tablespoon matcha to a cup of milk in the Nespresso milk-foam maker with some sugar ;)
Matcha latte power.

I’ve been trying different matchas. Maybe if I don’t enjoy one prepared as intended I’ll try to make a matcha latte.

The one I used is cooking matcha, but you can use a better one if you don’t like it prepared traditionally.

That’s good to know. If I like matcha lattes I might order some cooking matcha. The price is so reasonable. I just checked o-cha and their cooking matcha is $27 for 300 grams. At that price, a tenth of the cost of drinking matcha, a tablespoon per latte is affordable.

I’m seeing a slight improvement in my foam achievement. Today’s matcha is Yamenohana Matcha from Leafy Green. It’s a moderately priced matcha at $12 for 20 grams. I’m not commenting on the flavor profile because I’m overly sensitive to bitterness in tea, so not a good judge of the balance of flavors. I’ll probably need to increase my matcha budget.
