I've had a type of green tea in Asia that has a rice taste to it. Nutty and full. Anyone know what this variety is?

If by Asia you mean Japan it may have been genmaicha, which has literal rice in it.
Yes exactly. Many longjing and similar have this full nutty flavor.
A very difficult to source ‘roasted sencha’ from Kagoshima Co (because they don’t make every year) is very chestnutty nutty sweet potatoe umami rich, both in aroma and flavor, with hints of evergreen. Ohhh so good.
I would bet on a scented tea where « sticky rice herb » is used to give its flavor to green or white tea. This type of tea is a speciality from Thailand, Laos, or the area.
I’ve had some and it really has the smell and taste of sticky rice. Surprising but quite nice actually.
Please read here for an example:

I have drunk this tea in Chiangmai. For a session or two the novelty was quite nice but that was all I wanted.
