Hashiri is often a very early first flush shincha. Hashiri is picked very early. But Shincha in general is not picked earlier than post shincha "ichibancha sencha". Usually I do not focus on Hashiri type shincha. It is usually more expensive and is picked to be "first to market" type offering, a marketing strategy. Often it is not as good as shincha picked in its prime. IMHO.
I focus on shincha picked in its prime versus picked extremely early.
Thus I consider it a not so great value.

Den's has been around quite a while and has this to say about their Hashiri.
"Hashiri means the "first (harvest or catch) of the season" and our Hashiri Shincha is just that. It is the first of the first flush teas. It is made from the very young leaves and buds of the tea plant."

Yes, I feel this also.
